Mounting Colson Wheels

A quick question:

What is the quickest way to mount a Colson wheel onto the Dewault transmission using the least amount of space possible (i.e., shortest distance from the wheel to the motor).

Thanks in advance,
Robinson

Re: Mounting Colson Wheels

I would go ahead and make/purchase some hubs for the Colson wheels. www.cncbotparts.com has hubs that are specifically made for the Colsons in use with combat robots (they'll work fine for FIRST). I'd suggest using these as they're very robust.

The hubs colson sells are very good, but they can get slightly expensive with the wheels as well... They are not hard to machine (I've made them for the past 2 years) and it saves you some cash.

As for the smallest way to attach it to the dewalt tranny would come down to actually how far you wanted to do it. A small chain system could get you a fairly small setup. Also what size wheels are we talking.

We were actually not going to use chains at all, and just mount the wheel directly inline with the transmission and have the distance from the end of the transmission to the outside of the wheel be as small as we can get it, while still being able to support it.

Thanks again,
Robinson
