Linear Potentiometer

Are we allowed to use either a linear potentiometer or a linear trasducer for our robot?

The simplistic answer: Yes. Please read chapter 8 of the rules and pay particular attention to the "2007 Parts Use Flowchart" contained therein.

Mike

Where can you find the flow chart for the parts of the robot?

The robot section in the Manual. The Manual is located on the FIRST website. Link here.

Re: Linear Potentiometer

As long as it:

a) costs less than $400
b) is availible for any FIRST team to purchase (i.e. discontinued)
c) clearly isn't outlawed in the rules

then yes.
