HELP...this is due in like 30 minutes!

Setting a world record in a 100 m race, Maggie and Judy cross the finish line in a dead heat, both taking 11.0 s. Accelerating uniformly, Maggie took 2.00 s and Judy 5.50 s to attain maximum speed, which they maintained for the rest of the race.
(a) What was the accleration of each sprinter?
(b) What were their respective maximum speeds?

THANKZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!! IN ADVANCE

2 seperate problems. Just ignore everything about Judy at the moment.

First, you know how long judy took to get to her max speed. accel*time_spent_accel=speed. so there's one equation with two variables.

Second, you know how far she travelled in 11 s. That's in two parts. how far she travelled in the 2s she was accelerating + how far she travelled in the (11-2) s she was at max speed == 100m.

dist_accel + dist_at_speed = 100m

two equations, two unknowns, solve. Plug in the times for Judy to get the answers for her.

Note that I'm being specifically a little vague in my answer. If you don't know the equation for distance travelled in a period of time at constant acceleration.... well you should pay more attention in physics.
