I have this exact model '67 peugeot sitting in my driveway... It's not restored though.
Needs $300-900 worth of work put into it. I'm probably going to end up selling it unrestored because I'm lazy. Oh well.

Glad to see some German love here.

I love the BBS on your Jetta, Jetgrind. I know my friends 02 Wolfsburg had BBS stock, is it the same with yours? Those VR6 are powerful little suckers too.

I just bought a 98.5 A4 1.8T Quattro. Remote entry, heated seats, V12 amplifier, everything except power seats. It has the GIAC chip and I'm getting some other goodies soon, most likely a simple cone intake (who doesn't like to hear the turbo spool from a block away?!), borla exhaust, some xenon ecodes (gross stock 2 piece right now) and I have a nice kamei grill on order.

Grill coming in soon:

Funny, I think I started an Audi trend at my school. I bought my car about a month and a half ago and now theres an 01 1.8T (tiptronic ), 96 A6 2.8 and I think an 89 4000.

I like talking about my car too much.

Ya, my wheels came off a mk4 wolfy. I think they look better on a mk3 then a mk4. I like the kamei grille, but your next mod should be a set of coilovers, or at least a cup kit.

What do you guys think of the B13 Sentra? I am thinking about getting one of those, then importing the Tsuru(Méxican B13 Sentra, that Nissan still makes as a new car in México, since it is such a great seller, they just made it more modern on everything else.) headlamps, and a Sunny front bumper. Were you looking at the stock SR20DE engine, or a swap with a SR20DET (turbocharging and intercooling are your friend :) )?

MattD1Drift 27-01-2007 15:45

Re: Post pics of your whip!!!

For reliability reasons, I would probably keep it N/A. The turbochargers are really fussy at times, so I'd rather have reliability than power. Besides, too much power through the front wheels is not fun. Unless of course you mean the Nissan Pulsar GTi-R motor, then of course, I would do it.

Yes, that motor. The model number on it is SR20DET. The stock engine in those cars are the SR20DE.

Dude, you have no idea how much I know about Japanese European, and American cars. Lol. Sunday, I will share my knowledge.

For now, did you know, that a Supra actually makes 330bhp, and 310 lb ft of torque? And that the Nissan Skyline, 328bhp, and IIRC. 350lb ft of torque. The reason the highest you always saw Japanese cars at 276bhp(280ps) was of the so called "Gentleman's Agreement" that no car would be rated at over 280ps, to keep everything in check. Acura, however officially broke it with the release of the RL, with its 300bhp.

That is only a REALLY small amount of how much I know. I'm called the car encyclopedia by my friends. :p

Thats way too much for a raddo with that many miles. I see vr6's go on vwvortex.com for $5-6k with less than 100k miles all the time, with mods. The only reason I bought the jetta vs a corrado/ gti is because they are a lot easier to come across.

Ya, i cant disagree fully with that, my tuition is $25k a year:D .

On another note: How strict are emisions in Canada? Is it possible to bring one from the US over to Canada? SInce you live in Canada, you have the option of buying a 1995, they stopped making them in 94 over here. There are still a few 95s cruising around over here though. There is a local guy selling his 95 vr6 for $10K:ahh:

Wow stop making me drool, customs will tell me to bend over if i try to bring a car in especially if it's not domestic. I believe its 20% customs and 14% tax from the value of the car on the market...not what I bought it for....by the time i get to emissions my wallet will have a big hole in...well it has one in it already but still :D

Then there's always that 572 crate motor you can get from Chevy now.;)

Here's a pic I took today of the car I normally drive, my 1997 Camry LE. It's actually the only car I drive during the winter as the Mustang is stored in the garage and my Caprice wagon is parked behind it for the winter, that's why the wagon is clean and not covered with salt and sand. The Camry has the 2.2 liter 4cyl in it, perfect for the commuting I do, plus it goes through the snow pretty good. Currently showing just over 112k on it, but it has a little more on it as the odo doesn't count up at times when it gets bitter cold out. Other than that and one other minor electrical gremlin (can't lock the doors otherwise the factory alarm goes off!) it's a great car.

It's also paid off and I plan on running it into the ground.:)

Well, I wish that I would have seen this thread just a few weeks earlier...
My former vehicle and I ran into some less than desirable driving conditions and this is what happened:

It was rainy out and the roads were slick and I took a corner too fast and ended up rolling the truck over about one and a half times. It came to rest on the passenger side so I had to kick out the remainder of the windshield and climb out the opening. I was very lucky to come out of the wreck unscathed but my truck was a total loss. One of the big reasons that I was able to walk away from the crash was the fact that I was wearing my seatbelt. Let me take take this opportunity to tell all of you non-seatbelt wearers to buckle up! The last thing on my mind the night I rolled my truck over was rolling my truck over. But because I was classically conditioned to put my seatbelt on every time I got into a car, my life was saved. So, the next time you hop into a car, don't hesitate to put that annoying strap of fabric across your chest. You never know when it may just save your life.

Here's mine: (it's not an exact picture, but it's the same model)

Red i180 gen1 Segway with lithium battery packs, with the front handle-bag (not pictured). I wish they had a odometer on them, so I could know how many miles I've actually ridden it, but I'm sure it would be a lot.

As for a car, I'm still working and saving money, but it'll probably be a domestic pickup truck, with the F150 (4.6L V8 Triton) as my favorite. While I love most European cars (and will probably own one someday), your Aston Martin will never be able to be a haul firewood, plow snow, or tow heavy loads like a good ol' pickup truck. :D

Take care of german cars and they'll run forever. Everyone I know told me not to buy one, since they "break down so much". I've got 107k on the clock with regular maintenance. I'm replacing the timing belt (interference engine) this spring and all I need is oil change every 3,000 and I'm good for another 60k.

I've watched my friend veer off the side of the road doing around 70, up an incline and roll back down. After stopping and sprinting down the middle of the highway, I see him taking his head unit out of the car. The seatbelt saved him and his passenger's life.

Gonna shoot for a later model (98/99) and try to catch one with less than 90k miles. Well, I finally got around to getting a new car (see my post above for details...). It's a 1985 300zx naturally aspirated (no turbo). It's a GLL model with all the cool electric gizmos that all like to break. Digital gauges (complete with an accelerometer), power seats, power windows, power mirrors, a little voice box thing that tells me when my lights are on, lots of cool options. My favorite option has to be the t-tops! Gotta have those especially in Florida.

With the good comes the bad. The odometer says 107,000 miles but it doesn't roll over so I'll guess its some where in the 170,000-180,000 range. It also has a lot of rust. The car was sitting in the back yard of the previous owner half covered by an orange tree so moisture from the tree almost constantly dripped on the car. That led to a good portion of the rear tail light panel being rusted out. The leading edge of the roof on the passenger's side also has a nice series of rust holes that let water in. Because the roof is leaking, the passenger's side A-pillar has a 4 inch rust gash on it.

All in all, it was a good buy for $500. It runs and drives and has a set of almost new tires on it. It'll definately be an ongoing project but it can still get me from point A to point B. Hopefully I won't flip this one over...;)

I had an encounter with a deer while driving on I-65 coming home from Purdue a couple weeks ago. The results:

Radiator & fan were smashed nicely into the rest of my car, and really it wasn't worth the money fixing. So here's my new ride:

94' Nissan Maxima, pretty nice for how old it is actually.

WOO for bringing back an old thread!

I was going to start a new one, but it's easier to just put it here.

This is my new project. It's a 1990 Ranger (my third ranger), and it's bagged and bodydropped. I drove it for about an hour and a half, then it decided to overheat. Pulled the heads saturday and discovered a cracked head, both head gaskets blown, and a hole in one of the pistons. So, looks like no more 2.9 v-6, this baby will get a ford 5.0 (302cid) and aod or c4 tranny.

any questions? it's laying body btw, not frame. when i do a dash swap i'll rewire the truck also. I'm thinking i may keep the three link in the rear, but set up the front for side to side, instead of just front/back.

oh and a low quality video is necesarry!

I'm having a little trouble placing that model. The hubcaps seem to indicate Lexus, and my guess within there would be the IS line, but I'm just not sure. What is it?

Yup that's an IS300. Excellent car with Lexus build quality and reliability.

I finally got around to taking some better pics of my car outdoors.

I never could figure out why people do that :)

Be sure to get as big a radiator as you can in it, or you'll face the overheating problem again! Should go better with all 8 pistons....

did you do all the work on the truck? looks like a great job!

Well...i bought it to drag....the frame that is! haha on closed roads of course.

I've already found all the V8 parts i need, it's just matter of getting the money.

I didn't do any of the work...It actually needs some help. It looks pretty good, but i'm going to do a dash swap to probably an early 50's ford dash. I'm also rewiring the truck. When the front clip is off to do the motor swap, i'll be bracing the frame, because it has been z'ed and not reinforced to the extent i would like. I think i'll redo the upper link in the back, just to clean it up. It gets a ton of lift out back, so i'm not too concerened. Other than that...relocate battery to clean up underhood, molded center console to sub box, and new paint/bodywork.

Awesome thread; just found it.

Here's my 2002 PT Cruiser, with too many modifications to list...newest thing is a custom turbocharger system and Megasquirt stand-alone fuel management. I love to race it in Autocross (SCCA Members, anyone?), as well as on the street. This wasn't a turbo when I bought it, hah.

living on a true dairy farm i drive an 83 6.2 diesel GMC Sierra 2500.

i have two parts trucks for it and plan on adding a lift kit, hopefully 6 to 10 inches, and some BF goodrich mud terrian or all terrain. right know i have no stereo, but i want to get rid of the bench seat so i can put subs in. I also hope to add a jake brake if they make one for this old of a truck, a compound turbo and some 8 inch stacks coming up the side of the cab. Maby some day a 2 speed rear axel too. Diesel is the way to go. I hope to someday own a 10 to 12 second diesel but for know this dose well for going to school and and burning rubber, even though the engine is really a 350 with injectors.
