Irritated w/ Bimba

I recieved an e-mail yesterday from Bimba stating that they made a mistake and we are not allowed to use 12" stroke, 1.5" bore cylinders, max stoke is 11". This is a hassle due we had incorporated one into our design, and this changes our geometry completely. I do appreciate the fact they are shipping one out..just curious as to why it wasn't caught earlier than 3 weeks into the build...

This is partially Bimba and partially FIRST at fault. Fortunately, Bimba is stepping up, notifying teams, and offering free replacements. The issue is that the rules clearly state that the only cylinders you can use are the ones listed on the order form in the pneumatics manual, but apparently a lot of people didn't notice the discrepancies between that order form and the online form. There has been lots of discussion about this topic here:

I think there were some other threads too, but I can't find them offhand. I hope you are able to alter your design without too much hassle. Best of luck with the rest of build season.

Thank you. I am grateful that Bimba is offering to help, and provides the free cylinders. It just woulda helped to have it done the correct way, but what's done is done.

what we cant use is 1 1/2'' bore by 12'' stroke and yes i do have pics you just have to give me untill monday to post them it also messes up our whle design and we were going to have to chop our frame to gain the lift we needed but fortunitely we have come up with another idea that looks to work kind of a bummer though eh!

If it is not on the form in the last page of this document:

Then you cannot use it.

The way I read the form, a 2" bore 12" stroke would be legal though - right?

But yes, 2" x 12" is legal.
