Fuse Panel Question
 

To me this seems like a rather obvious question, but are we allowed to use only one (the larger one) of the two fuse panels FIRST provides? The wiring diagram has lead me to believe that we must use both of these panels.

If you're not planning on using your speed controllers at their full 40 amp power, you should be able to get by on the single panel.

I apologize for the confusion, I did not mean the MAXI breaker, I was referring to the two plastic fuse panels for the 20 and 30 amp breakers. ( 2 30 amp breakers, and 5 20 amp breakers will be required for my teams bot)

I always try to include both fuse panels even though they go largely empty. This way I can separate the RC power from any motor EMF interference that may occur on the power feeds, If weight or space is an issue, you can try one panel, but we usually have some external circuitry added that will reside on the smaller RC panel and not on the larger panel. Besides, having the open circuits allows for easier implementation of last minute enhancements without totally changing the electronics board layout.

You can use either or both of the large or small black panels in your design. Some teams even choose not to use the large 40 amp block, using #14 and 30 amp breakers instead. It's up to you. However, my recommendation is to use the 40 amp breakers and #10 wire when feeding drive motors like the large or small Chalupas. Jim E has the right idea about feeding the RC power. If you have other high current motors on this panel, the RC breaker should be the first one closest to the power input stud.

at first we only used the larger one but it turns out we need them both because we ran out of space. so only use what you need. if u can get by using only the large one then do that.
