Weird camera problem

I am sorry if this problem has been mentioned, but I haven't been able to find it in searches. This is our first year using a camera, and though we've made a lot of progress, we have one very frustrating problem that won't go away. When the camera is searching and gets to the right tilt, it skips panning there and continues to the next level. This seems to be only happening with the bottom search level. It otherwise locks on correctly, and isn't looking away from the light; I have tried the solution mentioned if it looks away from the light, and that makes it look away, so I know it's not the problem. Could anyone help me???

Are you using EasyC?

We're not and were having a similar problem, so we tried kevin watson's code from last year and its been working better.

Edit: Has anyone else experienced/fixed this or have any idea what the problem might be?

We had a similar problem. We had a high degree of out lights in the area and the camera occasionally saw one partially. For whatever reason ( I didn't dig into the code) this resulted in the camera restarting the search pattern.

Do this. Go into Kevin's code and disable the "new_search = 1" line and see if that fixes your issue. It fixed ours.

We are not using Easy C. The camera is mostly working fine, it's just the lowest search level. I'm starting to wonder if it will make a difference, since the light is 9 feet in the air, not directly in front of the robot (not to mention our camera will most likely be a couple feet above the ground) but we would still like to fix this problem. It still locks on correctly (though we're trying it on last year's robot and the robot is so beaten up, it won't drive straight towards it, haha). I'll try commenting out that line ASAP, though your problem sounds a bit different (it's not picking up any other lights, as far as we can tell). Hey, a little trial and error never hurt anyone... except when someone on our team decided to play chicken with the robot and hold the light directly in front of it, nearly getting run over.

Thank you so much Tom Line, it worked and now our camera is working great!
