Camera Issues

Hey guys. I have a question about getting the camera to work properly. I am a student mentor who helped last year and this is the first real year using the camera for us, since its almost needed. It works in testing o.k. so far but I was messing around with the camera java GUI one day and it locked up on me and crashed, and when I recovered, the camera would not connect to it or even run when I ran the default code. It is powered on and all but won't connect to the java app nor run with default code. I am hoping that the drivers on the camera aren't corrupt, any suggestions? Thanks alot guys.

Have you checked your backup battery voltage? We have found that most communication problems are caused by a drained battery, even though the camera may appear to be OK (LEDs on, etc...).

well the solution to that problem should be in the manual. it might be in the cmu camera2 section.:D

The camera might have simply just locked up on you, I know it did for me a few years ago when I played with in in my junior/senior years, if memory serves me right, all you really need to do is reset the camera, and re-open the app. I was good to go after that and you SHOULD be too if we had the same problems.

Step one: check the connections. In this case, it also means to make sure things are not connected when they shouldn't be. Specifically, you can't use the camera with both a DB9 serial connection to a PC and a "pwm cable" connection to the robot controller at the same time.
