looks like some steel alloy or some carbon fiber stuff

Its a form of hexite, we used a lot of it on our bot this year. It's paper and epoxy in a honeycomb structure compressed between 2 sheets of fiberglass, carbon fiber, or other materials. were using a few forms of it this year on our bot, and its become a great go to material.
