Channel One to follow Team 768

It's official. Channel One http://www.channelone.com/ is following Team 768-Woodlawn High from Baltimore, Maryland through the rest of the 2007 season. Look for the film crew at the playday in Washington DC on Feb. 18, at the Chesapeake Regional, maybe the Finger Lakes and at the Championship.

Thanks to Channel One for working with us to provide national exposure to FIRST and to local teams and events here in Chesapeake territory!

That's just awesome.
Last year Channel One covered our off-season projects, and the message of FIRST was delivered to over 7 million middle and high schoolers.

w00000000000000t for 768!

Thanks to all for the congrats (Greg, we will try to do you proud). Channel One is planning to broadcast live from Atlanta during the Championships. They are following the TechnoWarriors as an example of a "typical" team (we tried to tell them there are no typical teams but they don't understand). We don't think they will come to Rochester with us but if we get video and stills they will incorporate what they can into the piece, the same for the Chesapeake regional...and we have no idea right now what they plan for Atlanta. Our reporter is Eileen Wu, for those of you who get Channel One (our school doesn't).

Hope everyone had a successful ship - 768 is looking forward to a fun season.

Channel One is a national broadcast for the purposes of schools. I have never watched it, because most teachers at my school do not turn it on, but it's typically shown during homerooms.

Be careful who you tell that the teachers don't turn it on... The TVs in all the classrooms are provided by Channel 1 for the "purpose" of showing C1. If your teachers do not show it... then C1 can pull the TVs that you are probably using to show videos, etc.

Market segment of 7 million teenagers/day., assuming everyone turned on the TV.
:)
This is huge for FIRST.

I was under the impression that our school purchased the TVs in our classrooms with one of the millages. Our county is the ONLY county in the state of Michigan to successfully get a renewable technology millage passed.

At my old school , our school got tv's from channel 1 but later replaced them, so the tv's used for channel 1 don't necessarily have to be from channel 1.
