Team 1676 Animation - Finished Product

Here: http://www.team1676.com/viewpage.php?page_id=115 is the Finished product for Team 1676's 3DS Max submission. Also, if anyone knows or has encountered the same problem as us, we have tried to upload our file (.mov) to Firstbase and it reads as if it never uploaded. If you know what is going wrong we really would love to know. Until then, enjoy our animation!

If you ask me, nuclear energy is the best solution to global warming.

At the present moment, nuclear energy is the cheapest emission-free method of providing the massive quantities of power necessary for industry. Can you imagine a nation like China powered by solar panels? It’s just not feasible...

Advancements in solar and wind energy may make these practical solutions. But can we really afford to wait? We need a quick fix to stop global warming before it gets out of hand.

Not bashing your animation or anything. I was just a little surprised that you depicted a nuclear power station as a source of pollution.

I think you guys did a great job! But don't underestimate the potential of nuclear...

I must agree though I believe that not putting more stock then we have in the test fusion power plant in southern France is a mistake. But I am really posting to congratulate you that looked awesome. Good work.

The Nuclear Plant is actually intended to be a good thing. However, you can only do 'so much' in 3DS Max (according to our animators) and they couldn't make the 'smoke' for lack of a better word, more cleaner-looking.

Truth be told, you can only do "so much" if you only know "so much." Trust me, 3ds Max can do anything. ANYTHING. Just look at the Pixar movies.

While we understand that 3DX Max can do "anything", your un-gracious replyis a little un-settling. We were looking for help, not criticism!

Ok, I take full credit (and full responsability) for the power plant. In the beginning when Gutgarts assigned me to make a "power plant," the first thing I thought of was a nuclear power plant.

So I started on it, and as I did it, I was under the impression of all current forms of energy are bad (as you can tell, I'm a bit pessimistic when it comes to people saving the enviornment). I am aware now that nuclear power plants do not necessarily pollute the air (I still do not agree with it being the best source of energy, but that's not what this is about).

I did not plan on worrying about this, or else I would have started over. I prepared the second draft of the narration, in which it had a very brief explaination of the power plant, but this wasn't carried over to the final narration. Believe me, it made a lot more sense before the revision.

Any more questions about the power plant should be directed towards me.

After viewing other animations which have been posted by other teams, including a more experienced animation team, I believe ours holds up.

Buddy, I saw your message, and I didn't really find that offensive. I like the fact that we all came up with generally the same thing. I like it because then we'll be on the same page later in life when we are designing windmills with real materials :)

one question, are u still trying to upload the animation???

Re: Team 1676 Animation - Finished Product

Yes we are still trying to upload. However, we recieved an email from Autodesk/FIRST (i'm not exactly sure who) but they are aware of the problem, so it seems, and are attending to it ('so it seems.')

Yes, what is the normal power output of the plant, and what emissions does it create?

Don ;-)

Um... what I meant was questions about why it looks the way it looks and how it fits with the rest of the animation, but I can play along.

Output: A lot
Emissions: Steam, smoke
