So who's up late tonight?

Madtown is up fine tuning stuff. Our sophomore programmer just turned one of our motors into a 20,000 position servo I’m so glad he knows what he's doing I have no clue freaken genius

Team 549 is still hard at work....
We got rid of our suction cup earlier, and were working on making our arm better....
We also started re-skining our ramps.

I'm tired....and we are starting early tommorow

Re: So who's up late tonight?

Ya were running on Amp we are basically testing and retesting we gotta weigh tomorrow so were crossing our fingers for light weight we were 2 lbs over this mourning. Our programmer is working on his Servo motor thingy I have no clue but apparently we'll be able to click a potentiometer into a position a well be able to be at any of the set heights.

Re: So who's up late tonight?

We do nearly all our own machining on team 100.

Seeing that we are total noobs, it often takes us unreasonably long times to machine simple mechanisms. It is not unusual for us to work in the machine shop until midnight.

We have been pulling all-nighters since we finalized our design four weeks ago!

It took us a draw dropping 27 hrs of machining to make a simple worm-drive for the big-CIM. There was one night when we worked on it until 2:00 am!

Fortunately, we bolted on the last mechanical component today and it will now be programing's turn to toil into the wee-hours of the morning ;)

We're letting out around 12:00 tonight, starting at 10:00 AM (Mon) till X Tuesday morning (when they come to pic up our 'bot)

(I'm painting the crate and tuning up the mascot suit tommorow! (lucky me)

Re: So who's up late tonight?

Nope, our robot ships out at about 3 or 4 PM today, so whatever we have done as of this afternoon is it for us.

I wish we did have until Tuesday to work on it, but we make sure it gets to our shipping handlers early to ensure there's no last minute problems such as "the robot won't fit in the crate!!?!?"

Re: So who's up late tonight?

Unfortunately for the state of Texas, we have a STANDARDIZED test tomorrow which for the juniors is an exit level test so we get to leave our robot an hour earlier than other school nights...Just our luck...Don't you love state standardized tests?!?

I've been doing 12 hour shifts for the last two days, and will probably be in longer today... (9 AM start, 9 PM end, repeat.)

(This is what happens when the team decides that the majority of electrical and programming work will be left for the last weekend of build...and add on top of that the functional testing going on...:o )

My computer screen is starting to hurt my eyes. I was up all night last night working on the chairmans/woody flowers submissions due to the fact that the chairmans team consists of 5 professional procrastinators. And it looks like I'm going to be writing all day again today.........tonight is parent night for HOT so all of our submissions have to be presentable. *Groan*

1281 will be adding the gripper and probably mostly testing... if we have time we will try and find a way to add 20 lbs to the robot. I thing we are at around 97 lbs now, and our robot is under 4ft.

LoL Just tell them to call mine they are used to by now. However they were a little perplexed when we put the rack in the middle of the road and blocked off the streets for a practice run. We put our hours in last week, I went 5 straight days of 4-5hours of sleep between stopping and starting again. Its fun, but gotta get things done.

Yuppers!
A few of 108's kids will be packing up the crate tonight and of course making a few adjustments as well before the robot finally goes in!
((I had to make all those silly lists for/of everything so, those will be executed tonight as well))
I can't wait for it!

We don't have that luxury. Bedford sucks. But anyway, we barely finished ours, and we're hoping that we get some extended time to work on it during competition time before our first match.

Re: So who's up late tonight?

We think that we're doing pretty good. We're just finishing up a few last problems. We're also giving our operators as much practice to compete. then we're going to pack the robot for shipping and get ready. Good luck all!

We are!!!
Team 1254 is here doing finishing touches like softening edges that will touch the carpet. We worked 14 hours Sunday, 12 Saturday.

We have limits from the school on hours we can work.
Tonight until 11 pm and it will be in the box by then.

Pickup scheduled for between 10 and 4 pm Tuesday.
Then we are on to the rest of the jobs - sorting parts to take, banner upgrades, buttons, trading cards, awards to take, and a multitude of other jobs to do.

Good luck everyone on finishing tonight.

See some of you at GLR and Detroit.:)

Team 95 is currently pulling an late-nighter. Driven mode is working beautifully, and we're practicing ramp climbing and tweaking autonomous to try and improve reliability (we're batting 500 right now, with no camera ;) ).

At some point we'll pack it in for the night and call it good.

12 o'clock tomorrow is slowly creeping on. I don't think we are going to be able to actually leave. We are all still here trying to finish programming. It's going pretty smooth but there are still a few kinks. We just finished our cart. We ordered pizza, not enough of course, I hope it's enough to keep us going. I want a sobe. We still have to figure out how to get that dang crate outside...

Re: So who's up late tonight?

There was something about watching 4 seniors help their coach crate the robot for ship, thinking about their rookie year and how much they've learned, grown, matured. 'Til they started chasing each other around the shop with pool noodles they'd found. :) We left at 9:30, I think.

Re: So who's up late tonight?

We are still putting the finishing touches on the bot. Making labels and making sure everything is ready for tomorrow. Pick up the truck at 9am, pack our crate, hit 945 (colonial hs) at noon and load their crate, then off to 665 (oakridge hs) to get theirs and then have to be at the drayage company by 4pm.....thats when they close.

Whew.....and then home to sleep

I'm down at St. Cloud working on 1390s robot with Barry and a few other mentors. We're going to be finishing up electrical, the mechanical ramp deploy, and a few other things probably right up until we stick it in the crate at 1:30 tomorrow. However, I think we're going to have it nice and clean by the end. :)

Robot is in the crate, labeled and locked. Shop is clean, and we are waiting for pickup (between 1 and 3 tomorrow).

Re: So who's up late tonight?

For the first year ever, we didn't have a mad dash to finish the robot. Aside from the banebot transmission, oh EVIL banebot transmissions! (curse their cruel demon-spawned black hearts of malice), things went surprisingly smooth for us this season. Our progs even got incredibly lucky, first time running arm code with memory positions and it worked perfectly.

ANd then, at around 5-6ish the banebot transmission violently died, we decided to keep it and ship our arm in parts in the crate. Slapped our brand spankin new wheels on, took it our mentor's classroom and crated the sucker up.

Hard to believe it's gone.

Good luck to all the teams who have a LOOONG night ahead of them. May the spirit of the Dew keep thee awake.

-Chris

Team 753 just started tonight (All other pics were phoney) :)

In all seriousness, we're "finishing" up our robot, we just to fix the grabber, fix the lift, and possibly add the carbon-fiber panels...

[edit]we scraped the carbon-fibers[/edit]

Re: So who's up late tonight?

Team 1351 is up the river. We're just finishing putting cables in on the arm, which has been shortened so it can't reach the top ringer. Our chassis is a little messed up now as well. Fortunately, it's a software problem (not my department). Our bumper brackets were removed and cheese-holed recently; when they were put back on the robot the bumpers didn't fit. Every bracket is slightly different... and only fits the bumper when it's in the correct corner of the robot. Furthermore, the bumper flames are on the wrong way-that's gonna look queer. Our project manager has broken down, and i've lost my work ethic. Software just gave up, and now we're going home. My laptop is being closed right now.... as i finish typing this post.

Good luck everyone.

Take a fews days off, plan, and regroup. Trust me, personal mentoring experience has shown that you can be in very dire straits on ship date (never having tested code on the final robot, 15 lbs overweight, and several systems just plain not working) and still pull it together. Figure out what's working, what's not, and ask lots of questions here.

Good luck.

I just finished the first round of editing on our Chairman's Award submission, cut it down from 130 characters over to almost 200 under the limit...my gosh, it's almost 2...so yet again, I doubt I'll be fully functional tomorrow.

I miss the robot already. :(

We'll be finishing up our Chairmans last minute...

We just scrapped our ramps systems to make an incredibly (more) efficient grabber and lift, we'll post them later...(assuming we finish ;)).

Re: So who's up late tonight?

Wahoo! I'm finally home! 5 fuses and 2 Spikes later and a battery relocation later, we found the short on our robot, and finally got the robot's weight balanced. We drove it for the first time in competition state shortly after midnight.

We're getting better. Last year we pulled out at 2:30, and the year before at 4. We were ready to go at 1:30 but it took a little longer than we expected to crate the robot (normally we crate around lunchtime).

santosh 20-02-2007 02:35

Re: So who's up late tonight?

well friday night we pulled an all nighter to try and get ready for saturdays scrimmage. We weren't ready but went with our bot anyways.
Sunday I was at tech till 11:30 something and had to go home becuase I just applied for my new liscense and still have a legal cerfuw. Today I was there till like 11:40. And we just found out we are pretty over weight. And we have to ship tomorrow at 6 pm.
We were hoping to make this year the first year that the bot was ready by the first regional. It is looking a little slim now but I still have quite a bit of hope. Luckily we have no school tomorrow. It is lik teh school board knows or something lol

We closed the crate (with a finished robot) at 10 PM. A first for us in a few years.

It's a strange feeling not having to make a list of what "ABSOLUTELY" needs to be done at the regional and making a "would be nice... if we felt like getting around to it" list instead.

its 5:50 AM and I haven't gone to bed yet. I'll try to get some video once everything is working, we have yet to have a fully successful deployment of ramp, or score a ringer. I usually have a promo video up by this point, no such luck this year. It will be ready for UCF. Fine tuning.

I'm looking forward to my midterm today! :yikes:
