For something truly random for divisions at the Championship they could do it based on when you signed up. Number the teams the way they do now but do it based on when teams signed up for the competition, not just straight down the list in numerical order. Then release the official divisions after the last regional like they do now.

Nah, then all the rookies would end up in the same division (as the only way for rookies to attend is through qualifying at an event). Not so random.

Wow. If the team list stays similar to what it is. I think that the teams are evenly spread out. Im liking the look of curie right now. ( 70, 191, 279, 379, 503, 1114, 1503 off the top of my head). I really wanna see the finals this year. gonna be good.

If I were to rank them right now I would go
CURIE
ARCHIMEDES
GALILEO
NEWTON

That means I am ruling out Curie to win the championship. I think I would pick Newton to win it all because they are the least likely. I know it sounds backwards but that is what I am thinking.

I don't know about that. After what I have seen this season I think Galileo should be a little higher on the list, but it will depend on who else is place in the Galileo division.

No they wouldn't. If teams, for example, 2000 ,2001, and 2002 win a regional and say they sign up the same day one right after another. Then 2001 would be in one division, 2000 would be in a different one, and 2002 would be in a another different one, say Curie, Newton, and Galileo.

Re: 2007 Championship Divisions

Ed,
If you could get FIRST to use the list from post #170 I would appreciate it. It puts 67, 340, & 1126 in Newton again. And for some strange reason FIRST decided to name our robot Roxanne for us this year. I had another name in the system but the yearbook says differently. So, fate must realign.

Somebody can tell me how many teams still lack to complete the Championship.

PS: #1860 and #1382 together again ^^!!!

how many days after this last week of regionals can we expect official divisions?

Re: 2007 Championship Divisions

It's usually the Wednesday before the week of nationals at NOON.

So Next wed the official list should be out, which is really cutting it close to Tuesday which is the last day for the teams that qualified through regional victories to commit for championships. i wonder how their gonna fill up those slots in 3 hours then.

Andrew Schuetze 01-04-2007 13:42

Qualifiers plus pre-reg = 340

My quick research of the 60 potential week five qualifiers shows 27 awardees / champion teams already had thier ticket punched or qualified twice with an award & game. Assuming all of this week's new qualifiers (33) can attend, that completely fills the championship divisions. (307 as of Friday + 33 = 340) That leaves only a few spots for wait list teams will be from qualifiers who don't attend for what ever reason. Could be some of the rookies and teams abroad. I'd say five to ten teams get to move on to Atlanta from the waitlist.

229 will soon be added to the list of competitors in Atlanta.

See you all there

This is going to be the fourth year the Championships have been in Atlanta, this will be the fourth year I'll be there with 229, I simply cannot wait!

Man, I can't wait to see 1636 and 1583 get onto that list. I'm so excited. What way to end for Team 1636.

376 pit stalls is 94 teams per division = 36 teams on the waitlist...
That would just be increadable for us not being one of the top 20 teams on the list but would be a major bummer is we were 37. I can only hope this is an indication of the number of teams going to Atlanta:)

I don't recall how many pit stalls that FIRST had last year per division. It looks like there is an extra row per division with 16 stalls. 5 rows of 16 = 80 per division so that is not enough so is this just wild speculation?
