thats not going to happen, FIRST already sent out a e-mail to teams below 20 last week who were on the wait list saying that they are taking them off because there is no chance of them getting in.

Just because they have 376 pit spaces doesn't mean they will use that many

In 2002 through 2004 the divisions were released the Tuesday 9 days before the beginning of the championship. That ended up ranging anywhere from before the last regional ended (2003) to 10 days after the last regional ended (2002).

In 2005, the divisions were released on a Monday, 10 days before the beginning of the championship (9 days after the end of the last regionals).

In 2006, the divisions were released on a Friday, 13 days before the beginning of the championship (13 days after the end of the last regionals).

Championships are next week. Payment's due by Friday. Tommorow (Tuesday) is the last day for week 5 qualifiers to sign up. Is this going to be a squeaker this year, with the divisions not being released until Next Monday. Or are they going to go on faith to get it done, and release the list on Wednesday?

I liked the strategy FIRST used last year-- put participants in divisions, pretending as though the "pending" teams were actually going. Then, release the divisions without listing pending teams. As pending teams get their money to FIRST HQ, they get added to the list of teams attending the Championships, and they claim the spot FIRST reserved for them. This prevented entire divisional assignments from shifting around, and allowed FIRST to release divisions in a reasonable amount of time.

I think there are alot of week 5 qualifyers in big trouble. There's just not enough time to get so much money together in such a short amount of time.

Tell me about it, we're in a complete frenzy for money right now. it's just our sponsors are figuring who's paying how much on the registration fee.

I got that email and this is just wild speculation / wishful thinking on my part. However, FIRST must have been getting some calls or lurking on this thread because the pit map is no longer available on the event website???

I was able to view the PIT MAP earlier at this address:

http://155.212.10.234/uploadedFiles/.../07Pit_Map.pdf

To use it for anything is up to you. I know this was out there today at around 1:00. It could easily be different now that FIRST has a better idea how many pits they will actually need.

I'm curious, how many teams have always been on the same field at Champs? I wish they would shift which field is where, or which field they start assigning teams to.

I've always been on Newton. Which means, I've always been on the back of the dome, and always missed the opening ceremonies, and always needed to scramble to find a seat to watch Einstein. I'm sure there's not a ton of teams in this same situation... Just curious how many.

We've always been in the back too (long as thier was a back) before then you went field to field in Florida. If you were inside it was no problem because it was air conditioned but woe be unto you if you had to go outside to Einstien in the middle of the day. Not only were you melting but you couldn't really see inside unless you were right up next to the stage because it was bright outside and darker underneath.

Funny you say that. I've been on a different field each of the three times my team has been to the Championship event.

I remember! I got heat stroke one year and spent Friday morning puking in the porta johns. TMI? Sorry. Anyway, I always loved the energy of the opening ceremonies and closing ceremonies in Epcot. Oh well.

Are the HOF Teams getting bigger pits too? I remember some talk of this a few months ago.

Well maybe one day Disney will give in and build a large domed stadium with an equally huge convention center so we can all go back.
Good luck with that.

I think they do shift the start point of the field assignments each year. Some teams just get stuck in one or two divisions, I guess. 330 has always been Newton or Archimedes.
