Bill Of Materials Form

i have spent over an hour searching for the Bill of Materials form that we are to enclose in the shipping crate. Does anyone know where it is located.

You make it yourself accounting for the cost of the parts used to build the robot.
Excel works.

i saw a form that was required but i can not find it again. i know we are supposed to use the form and we can transfer the data we have to the form but the truck will be here in less then an hour and i have spent that much time searching for it. in the shipping information it says that we are required to have it for the shipping crate. *frustrated* i know i saw the form yesterday somewhere.

Perhaps you're talking about a Bill of Lading? See section 4.2.12 of the manual.

it is listed under the robot section of the manual under the name inspection template. It is an excel file.

You will find it here. It is not (yet) a requirement that this form be used. However, it will make your inspector's day easier if everyone uses this format.

im pretty sure you just need to have it printed out to give to the inspector at each competition.

Do we have to fill any of the other blanks in the official BOM Form on the FIRST Website other than Name/Cost?

Thanks,

Re: Bill Of Materials Form

I just put down the subsystem that i was using the item on and then how many i used, description of item and cost. It totaled everything for me in excel. I did have to change the team number and date to a different type because it came out as a money value instead of general number. You can take a hard copy with you to give to the inspector and also have it on a disk to download into the inspectors computer if they want it that way.

Alternatively, it is also legit to save it to an inspector's USB flash drive.

So everyone is up to speed on this. The desire to have an electronic version of your BOM is so that First can make some decisions on what teams could use in the KOP in the future. They are hoping that you will either email the spreadsheet form or have it to load into a flash drive at competitions. Inspectors will still need to check over the BOM during the inspections. Looking at a flash drive will be a little difficult. Please watch for updates, a hard copy will be nice.

Chris,

It is unclear if there will be a printer available at all regionals (or any regionals for that matter). There is also the logistics of format as the rules do not specify that you have to use the Excel spreadsheet template provided.

If I understand everything correctly (which rarely happens)...

For submission to FIRST, you can submit your BOM in any format (paper or electronic; Scanned handwritten, ASCII test, Excel, Word, Lotus, iwork, Clarisworks, VI or even Multimate) either at the regional (once again, paper, CD or USB drive) or via email or snailmail. Your inspectors at your regional should have USB drives and will forward whatever you wish to give them to FIRST. What FIRST will do with this information is undetermined.

For inspection at your regional,
your inspectors would appreciate a single legible hard copy. It will make our jobs a lot easier.

Thank you.

Mike
