Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
The design is excellent ... something I have grown to expect from your robots year to year. just excellent. two questions, first is how wide the ramp parts that the team's wheels will ride on... can't quite make out how big of a gap that is in the middle. second question, how do you pick off the ground I am not quite seeing it, and am quite interested (or do you plan to only pick from the human loader).
Good Luck at your first regional and see you in Waterloo. |
Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
Taking bets on how long it takes for that camera to get killed? :yikes:

so, what's the protection of the camera anyway? /trying to keep this thread about the robot... |
Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
Nice design as always Steve! I had an exact sketch of this design at the kickoff on a piece of napkin. I bet there will be alot of similar designs. We'll be missing you guys down at FLR this year!
Since I am out on sabbatical the next couple of years I'll see what I can help out with at the competition. Been missing it... Ellery |

The Sparx by themselves are good for at least $20 for an opportunity to slap Alex in the face with a pie!:p |
Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
Very nice looking robot - I especially like the color scheme.;)
Couple of questions: Does the camera track while you're moving? I'd worry that it would wiggle too much on the end of the support to maintain lock on the light. Is there a stop for robots once they get onto the horizontal platform? (I can't see one in the picture). If not, are you concerned about the robots driving over the edge? Anyhow, see you in LA. in 2 weeks! |
Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
Looks like a solid design this year. I like the simplicity of the bot, hopefully we will get a chance to climb those ramps a few times this year. :D

Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
Looks like a solid bot guys. Hopefully we'll get to play with you at LA :)

Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
How do you deploy your ramps?
|
Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
Looks like another great robot from team 188, good luck at your regionals and see you at GTR

Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
Airline cable connected to two pins which hold the ramps upright. The cable is linked to a window motor in the centre of the robot. Soon as we need to deploy the ramps, we just run the motor. Originally we tried with a servo but it ended up not being entirely reliable. I'm sure someone else can provide more detail! There are also turnbuckles to adjust tension.

Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
You guys in Canada sure are coming out with some impressive bots. Is it possible that 296 will be removing the only from the title "First and only FIRST champions from Canada"?
|
Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
The ramps are deployed as J Flex stated. The leg supports have springs which help to push the ramp outward and then we let gravity do the rest. I believe I was told they deploy in about 2 seconds.
The robot in the picture is missing the cage over the center of the robot. We believe that if a narrow robot wants to drive over to the other side it will be able to. |
Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
nice robot
i wondering is that robot over weight and how high is it could ur arm put tube on all 3 spot |
Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
I'm very excited to see this robot (And team of course :P) in Los Angeles in less than two weeks!
Good Luck to you guys, ILL BE CHEERING FOR YOU! |

Yes we can place on all three levels. Special thanks to team 25 for allowing us to modify their drive train design from last year. We believe that this has drastically improved our mobility system from last year. |
Re: pic: Blizzard VIII
Unless the folded up ramps prevents so, hope you don't get a tube stuck on the camera mount, otherwise you're not allowed to pick up any more to play with until you get rid of it :)
