How did you come up with your predictions?

I believe he used past data from previous regionals last week and correlated with the teams that were going to be at GLR, and I guess the glitch that everyone is aware of is actually connsistent so you can estimate what teams you would be with or against.

lol! I love it! If they don't change it. That list should be right. :)

As thrilling as this match schedule postulate is, this thread is about 1114.

two days until Primetime.(so you call it) Maybe Primetime and Showstopper (my team's bot, unofficially named showstopper)will end up on the same side of the field. Karthik, expect a visit from myself and Karthik

Any chance of getting a pushing match going between us again this year? If not at Great Lakes perhaps Waterloo? After being a ref in St. Louis and having to rotate the spider legs, I would dare say that we have enough power to at least push it around a bit... :D See you guys Wednesday night/Thursday morning!

As a designer and fabricator of a somewhat complicated flag holder (compared to last year's zip tied one), I'm intrigued to see what your robot is bringing to the table.

flag holders + self-righting mechanisms = crazy delicious.

maybe they attched the flag holder to a gyro or a motor so it stays vertical. you never know what ideas 1114 comes up with

too much weight just for the flag holder, think something smaller mostlikely

If the flag holder is mounted on a pivot point, they could just add weight to the bottom of the holder always stays vertical. That is the easiest I can think of. :yikes:

its sad, really, that Karthik mentioning a complex flag holder gets this many people curious. Maybe we should be focusing on our scouting, strategy, imagery, and other team aspects instead of guessing how their flag holder works. If people are really that concerned, i will take a picture of it on Thursday. Maybe I'll even make a thread called 1114's Flag holder: It's Primetime! I'm sure that it's a nifty holder, but its still a flag holder.

Thanks, Rich - you're absolutely right. I was sort of thinking that discussion was getting out of hand. Karthik's much too easily impressed by a few colourful elastics :)

why would anyone do that, a servo is much lighter and easier to program :D

there are 101 ways to place a flag to stay legal, but in all seriousness that doesn't matter.
what matters as far as 1114 are:
a) their drivetrain-as this year is primarily defensive if we are to take anything away from week one
b) their manipulator- as 1114 always plays the game in its entirety, not just the endgame, week 1 taught us that its hard to score on the rack and I am hoping someone can put an end to this difficulty, even if just for the games excitement.
c) their ramp- week 1 also taught us that most robots can't climb other ramps, and I feel this is one place 1114 has something up their sleeves...
d)their strategy- (although don't expect you'll hear too much from them on this one-except the underlying strategy to win graciously)

a) When the upper caliber placer teams enter the game (as 1114 will likely be), the game suddenly changes a whole lot...
b) same as a)
c) really? I didn't watch footage from other regionals, but when robots took about 5-10 seconds to aim and line up, they were typically fine. It was often even faster if the ramps didn't have gaping holes in the middle
d) It's Derek and Karthik...... need we say more?

well I watched the webcasts for quite awhile, and the number of failed attempts at getting onto a ramp far surpassed that of teams getting on.

... all your other points I agree with, which is why I said we should be more concerned about them then such a small thing such as the flag holder
