Also, in the last match I see that the Keeper rings were removed from the floor. I never saw any matches in person or web cast, where the unscored keepers were removed unless they were in danger of scoring.
Dave

This was done in every match in the regional by the head ref, Greg Needel. He might be able to give you a better answer as to why this was done.

Thanks David. I was just wondering about that. I also just watched the 3 videos you posted. Thanks very much for doing that. I enjoyed seeing the action from Israel.
Team 1577 really has a scoring machine!

One of the major rules this year is that no keeper can be scored during the teleoperated period. During the practice day myself and the other people running the event saw numerous keepers being scored. It was assumed that teams were just practicing scoring but it would be easier just to remove them from play all together. This is the same thing that was done at BAE and FLR.

Thanks Greg for clairifying this. I just had not seen it done in the two regionals I attended or on web casts of three others. I think getting the keepers out of the way is a good idea. Dave

During the quarter finals, my robot hung 7 tubes alone, one of which during autonomous mode. Unfortunately, during the final game the grip was stuck inside the arm, and that why the robot didn't hang any tubes. Our autonous mode was successful 2 times during the regional.

Best of Luck

I don't think so...I know 1657 Isn't going because of money reasons.
I'm pretty sure 1574 will be the only representative.

Actually we decided, that we will go to the championship, but not the whole team, again because of lack of funding.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I just came across a link to the speech that president Shimon Peres gave at the 2007 Israeli regional. Apparently this speech has been making the rounds via email.

My sincerest condolences to the teams and members of the Israel FIRST community, the Israel Autodesk community, and in particular to the family of Daniel Blankenstein, for the very unfortunate events at today's competition.

Dave,

For those of us out of the loop about what happened, could you elaborate? Or provide a link to any news source?

Thanks.

This is what I know form multiple accounts of people in Israel that were at the event:

Towards the end of the day, one of the V.I.P.s standing by the field suffered from a heart attack. There was an ambulance present however the attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he passed away.
The teams were told to return tomorrow morning for the final day. The remaining matches and awards will all be completed tomorrow. There are currently no updates on the cancellation or postponing of the final day.

This is a tragic event and my deepest condolences go out to the family of Daniel Blankenstein and the FIRST Israel community.
