the press guys were really nice, in return for the pass i brought them all of my photos for use by FIRST and in return they burned them all to cd for me :D
i even captured a last minute award ceremony after all the official photographers had left.

i strongly suggest asking officials at your regionals about passes!

Yeah... I saw you there with the press pass. Only a few people took advantage of that.

I do not believe any regionals do this. And trust me when I say that becuase I am one of the ones that takes all of the teams footage. It is difficult to even get anywhere near the field in a regional.

Really? I saw someone at BAE with an actual pass around their neck that looked EXACTLY like a volunteer pass, except at the top it said PRESS...

Could be wrong tho..

When you refer to the "Press pass" are you refering to the "Media" pass given out. I've seen quite a few of those today at GLR. Didn't see any "press" passes though. I hope those action shots are posted on CD.

Yeah... Maybe the pass I saw said MEDIA....

That sounds about right.

In that case...

Those passes are issued to media representatives (Newspaper,TV), not to individual teams for use (as far as I know)

I'm pretty sure VCU had press passes this year too. Last year I got one.

It's kind sad actually, how pathetic they are. It just has the VCU regional logo and the FIRST logo and says "PRESS PASS". It's a little bit bigger than a business card, and it goes in one of those pin-on business card holders (a bit of folding is needed). Everyone on my team was pretty sure that I had counterfeited it (hence my user title read "did not counterfeit his press pass" for a while)

you just have to ask. i got a media/press pass because i was reporting for my schools newspaper as well as just taking video/pictures for my team.

our team media person (I guess it's ok to call her that?) told me that each team could get temporary a media pass for use during any matches they were playing in...she got it for me twice, I got some neat footage wandering all around the field before, during, and after a couple qualifying matches. I even "interviewed" our drive team, and got some "behind the OI" scenes.

and the drive team asked me to be a pit person during eliminations, so I got to be in the queuing area most of the time. Not so good for photos, but very exciting to be right there during the matches! so my other son had the video camera in the stands and recorded all of our rounds, plus the rounds that his favorite teams were in (39 and 60, who won)

This was at the AZ regional last weekend.

I suggest you ask at the volunteer/vip desk, you might get lucky and get a media pass.
