Haha this whole forum is great! I sure hope this goes through but we do need to find the space for i think 600. I bet 600 would be a good number to use because obviously people will come and go and other people will just not go.

PS: are robot costumes allowed? i like looking like a robot in front of the ladies

How about doing this on the floor of the Georgia Dome after the pits close Thursday night? Maybe not on the playing fields, but perhaps in the space in front of them?

Music can be played for varied preferences (on each field), so mentors/volunteers as well as students get to party!

This might be a logistics issue for FIRST and the venue, but maybe it can work...

Usually there is a band that performs that night on Einsteins field but i really do think that is a good idea i would go and talk my team members into going

I believe FIRST used to have dancing at team socials, and some problems came up. I wouldn't think they'd allow this.

As I said before, time will most likely be our determining factor, as our team curfew is usually like 10:30ish

Is it just me, or has the address of where it is at still not been announced? Or is there just one Hyatt hotel and it is assumed?

Re: Prom anyone????

is it going to be at
Hyatt Place
1899 Sullivan Rd, College Park, GA

at least that is what was posted earlier, as for the time, I am guessing it will start after pits close

Re: Prom anyone????

The location of the proposed prom as detailed in the recent comments has gone south, literally.

The initiator of this thread, Rachika Garcia said on March 21 "It looks like the prom will be held at the hyatt hotel".
The exact Hyatt was never clarified.

Then on March 27th, shakil07 said:
"is it going to be at Hyatt Place 1899 Sullivan Rd, College Park, GA or different Hyatt?"
That College Park hotel is about 10 miles south of downtown Atlanta.
shakil07 Hyatt question has not been responded to so of course some people are uncertain.

I can only assume (I have nothing to do with the proposed prom), that the Hyatt hotel that Rachika was talking about was the Hyatt Regency Atlanta which is very close (walking distance) to the First venues and other downtown hotels. Many First teams are staying there including ours. See this message for info on the Hyatt Regency Atlanta.

I assume that Rachika will clear this up soon but I believe my info is correct.

If by "official" you mean something from FIRST - you're probably not going to see that here. I haven't yet seen an indication that an "official team gathering" has been or is being organized by FIRST for Thursday night.

This thread started with a harmless request by a team planning their prom in Atlanta (in a room for maybe 100 people). In this thread, it's apparently snowballed to an event on the scale of a team social. There's confusion about which hotel and team's trying to get detailed information to tell sponsors, mentor, parents, ...

I would make some "back-up" plans for your team in case something "official" doesn't materialize for Thursday.

HOLLA!

If there is anyone reading this from team 399 in Lancaster, CA or close to the team please ask Brian, Rachika or someone to let people know whether this prom is still on and if so, where and when is it going to be held. People need to know as "David Brinza" said earlier. The Championship event is only about 10 days away.
