Re: Robo~Prom
I'd be there, but if I go to atlanta, I'll be getting there in the middle of the day.
:( It's a really great idea, though! Have fun! |
Re: Robo~Prom
Since it's a robotics prom all the tuxes and dresses should be duct tape.
Just a thought. |
Re: Robo~Prom
Do you know what time it will be? I think for some teams it will depend on what time it ends, if they are able to go.
Pavan. |
Re: Robo~Prom
How about I show up there with whatever I am wearing at that point of time? That's cool right? ok good.
Now, next request, can we please have Dan Richardson as the DJ? He is a professional DJ. Also, he has done many offseason and FLL competitions. The crowd doesn't stop dancing when he is the dj. Wendy rejected me for her husband. Now, I need a date. |
Re: Robo~Prom
I'd be interested. When would it be? So I can tell my team and see if they'd be interested in going
|
Re: Robo~Prom
DEFINITELY count me in! This sounds like a great team social event.
|
Re: Robo~Prom
Arefin I would be honored
j/k I can't wait until this robo prom more reason to dance around like there is no tormorrow sebas Quote:

Re: Robo~Prom
You can count on team 1675 and maybe their good friends on 1714 and my Girlfriend (she's the caption) wants to know if any of the girls would know how to make the tube skirts into dresses?

... so I still need a date. =) |
Re: Robo~Prom
I think we need some dating game-type contest to get Arefin a prom date.

So.. funny story. Fin tells me I should enter this thing.. And.. I want one person's opinion on whether or not I should.. since we just finally got a chance to hang out with her in Boston this past weekend. Hey Julia, did the shocked look finally leave your face after you left the group of us? LOL Funniest quote ever. (After hanging out with her for literally less than 5 minutes) Julia: "You see this look on my face? It's the look of shock." Me: "Yeah, we tend to have that affect on people." Jess Boucher: ::sigh:: An hour later after hanging out at the Museum of Science, and then having to pull a smooth move on the T to actually be able to ride the darn thing cause us people from CT and other places couldn't figure out how to use the T (subway). Julia: "You see my face? The look of shock is still there?" Me: "That's just cause you're not used to us and our crazy ways yet.. That comes with time... maybe.. kinda.. sorta.." lol So.. Julia.. professional opinion.. Should I be in this contest or out? lol :p |

I plan on stopping by for a little while... and maybe a couple people from my team as well.

Re: Prom anyone????
SOOOOOOOO
WHEN? WHERE? WHAT TIME? FORMAL OR INFORMAL? LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED!! |
Re: Robo~Prom
is it going to be at
Hyatt Place 1899 Sullivan Rd, College Park, GA or different Hyatt? |
Re: Robo~Prom
Team 501 (about 20 of us) would like to go but our travel committee needs more information :) We would really love to go so see if you can get more details
|
Re: Prom anyone????
look in the post "robo~prom"
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=56039 discussion has pretty much completely moved to there |
Re: Prom anyone????
I've merged the two threads about this same subject.
|
Re: Prom anyone????
Which Hyatt is it at? Address please. I'd really like to go.

Is doing both out of the question?? Is there a large room available in the WCC for Thursday night? |
Re: Prom anyone????
I'm going to have to second that...with approx 100 TEAMS showing interest lets say that if each team brought only 10 kids (a rough estimate) that would require a space big enough to hold 1,000 people minimum...I don't think a hotel hall could hold it. So maybe somewhere else?
I mean I REALLY want to go, and I don't want to sound like a downer, but time is running out and people are growing more in number.   |
Re: Prom anyone????
If it's a nice night, you could always try doing it outside, or having an impromptu meetup somewhere like the underground or Centennial Park. After all, there's usually the Atlanta Prom around the same weekend (though we've been informed not this year), and the fountain makes for a gorgeous background for pictures.
There's always some way to work it out, but please try and finalize your plans as quickly as possible so those of us WITH teams can make our travel arrangements to your party! |
Re: Prom anyone????
Haha I'd love to go too, depending on the girls =D just kidding all girls are good.
|
Re: Prom anyone????
we'll all fit. how many firsters can fit in a telephone booth? a lot. try a confrence room... i think we can do it. :D
not everyone is coming. time for an official list. but the prom still must be on.... i already have a date and dress. :D |
Re: Prom anyone????
I think the list should be made after the last regional is over because there are teams out there that probably want to go, but have not qualified yet to go to Atlanta.

Re: Prom anyone????
Wild idea here:
How about doing this on the floor of the Georgia Dome after the pits close Thursday night? Maybe not on the playing fields, but perhaps in the space in front of them? Music can be played for varied preferences (on each field), so mentors/volunteers as well as students get to party! This might be a logistics issue for FIRST and the venue, but maybe it can work... |
Re: Prom anyone????
ill go if there is techno music.
|
Re: Prom anyone????
Haha this whole forum is great! I sure hope this goes through but we do need to find the space for i think 600. I bet 600 would be a good number to use because obviously people will come and go and other people will just not go.
PS: are robot costumes allowed? i like looking like a robot in front of the ladies  |

6 from 668, and 2 mentors will be there.
count in 6-8 from 362 also HO-TEI PARTY!!!!! |
Re: Prom anyone????
Is it just me, or has the address of where it is at still not been announced? Or is there just one Hyatt hotel and it is assumed?
|
Re: Prom anyone????
is it going to be at
Hyatt Place 1899 Sullivan Rd, College Park, GA at least that is what was posted earlier, as for the time, I am guessing it will start after pits close |

Re: Prom anyone????
The location of the proposed prom as detailed in the recent comments has gone south, literally.
The initiator of this thread, Rachika Garcia said on March 21 "It looks like the prom will be held at the hyatt hotel". The exact Hyatt was never clarified. Then on March 27th, shakil07 said: "is it going to be at Hyatt Place 1899 Sullivan Rd, College Park, GA or different Hyatt?" That College Park hotel is about 10 miles south of downtown Atlanta. shakil07 Hyatt question has not been responded to so of course some people are uncertain. I can only assume (I have nothing to do with the proposed prom), that the Hyatt hotel that Rachika was talking about was the Hyatt Regency Atlanta which is very close (walking distance) to the First venues and other downtown hotels. Many First teams are staying there including ours. See this message for info on the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. I assume that Rachika will clear this up soon but I believe my info is correct. Dave |
Re: Prom anyone????
any official details yet? i would really love to go and im sure a few members (probably not all) from my team and a few friends from some other teams that i havent seen post on here would love to go as well. it sounds like it would be a wonderful event, and hopefully the final plans will be able to accomodate everyone that is interested in attending. please let us know soon! this is exciting! see you all in atlanta! =)

Re: Prom anyone????
I would also like to know so I can bring it up with my sponsor and get approval for us to come.

This thread started with a harmless request by a team planning their prom in Atlanta (in a room for maybe 100 people). In this thread, it's apparently snowballed to an event on the scale of a team social. There's confusion about which hotel and team's trying to get detailed information to tell sponsors, mentor, parents, ... I would make some "back-up" plans for your team in case something "official" doesn't materialize for Thursday. |

I can't bring this up to our mentor yet, we have no real information as in the time, the place??? for a personal info, can we come dressed up like with a dress shirt and nice pants and maybe a tie and for a girl a dress or would that be too formal?? sebas |
Re: Prom anyone????
myself and a few others from my team are interested in going. I just need to know the time and the place.
|
Re: Prom anyone????
i know that me and a couple of the girls on my team would love to come.... but without accurate info, we can't ask our mentor if that is at all possible. I know that everyone is begging for info and i know that no one's getting any, but when there is some, make sure everryone gets word of it! THANKS AND C YA IN ATLANTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you mean by "Dress to impress". Team 1636' drive team will be there though.:) |
Re: Prom anyone????
So, I wonder if there will be like actual dancing taking place, or if it will be lots of people standing around not doing much of anything.
In either case, would anyone like to go with me? ;) :D Or am I just awesome enough myself to show up alone? :D |
Re: Prom anyone????
I would love to go, but I have to talk to the mentors about things like logistics. (How does one get to anywhere from the Country Inn & Suites: Atlanta Airport South on a shoestring budget?)

On another note; are people serious about dates? haha, Because if this IS a "Date" event, solo is fine right? lol |
Re: Prom anyone????
well, dress to impress is basically semi-formal attire. if what i understand is correct. personally, im wearing a casual type dress. and my dates wearing a button up shirt and tie.
dates are cool, but so is going solo. it's pretty much like a less formal and a lot more fun type of prom. :D |

Thats where 1155 and 2265 are staying :D |
Re: Prom anyone????
"Dress to impress," typically, means no denim (sorry, Dean), sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, or sneakers. What it means for girls is harder to define since it's used most often when describing the dress code at clubs and what most girls wear to clubs probably isn't appropriate. :)
Use common sense -- don't look like a slob, but it's not a white tie affair, either, and it's not even as formal as semi-formal. |
