Would You Watch an Israeli Regional Webcast?
 

Team #1577 is trying to arrange a webcast for the 2007 GM/Technion Israeli Regional. Everything is pretty much approved, and we will get the final OK tomorrow.
Before we start getting things ready, we just want to make sure that we have one important thing: audience. For a variety of reasons, we do not anticipate a large amount of local viewers. Therefore I want to ask how many of you will really watch the webcast?

Now here is the catchy part:

Considering the time difference, the competition times will be around
3AM - 10AM EST
The webcast will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday (yes the regional is in the middle of the week).

We realize this will be a problem for most (if not all) potential viewers, and that's why we are asking for your opinion.

Just to clarify things: The whole competition is held in English! (The ceremonies and team intros are in English and Hebrew)
I don't know who is coming this year, but for the past two years Blair was the announcer at the regional.

I more than likely would not be able to catch it live (darn those things called sleep and work :p ), but if you archived it I would be interested in viewing it.

If you archive it I would watch it. If I had to watch it live I would probably watch one day just to see how robots from the other side of the world perform.

As a proud Israeli (and a would be member for #1943 if I didn't move to the US) I'd make a great effort to watch the regional.

is that next tuesday and wednesday of next week and would the webcast be in hebrew ( i might be able to ranslate some of it). Where in israel is hte regional .. someone told me Tel-Aviv , but i wasent sure if it was true or not.

I would love to watch it, I wont be able to watch the whole thing because I will be taking ambulance calls then when ever they come in, but I will keep it running to watch as much as I can.

Also, I can freely translate between Hebrew and English, so if you want help with making subtitles after the video is parsed or anything, let me know.

It would probably be NO for me. Just for the simple fact of the time and I watch too many regionals as it is. My wife is starting to feel like a FIRST widow.

Chalk up another vote for the "would love to watch it, but because of time constraints would need to watch it archived and not live". Theres no way for me to stay up all night watching, but i would love to see what you guys thought up with.

I would actually find those hours easier due to I could watch more in the morning then I could if at school. I would gladly wake up to watch.

I would absolutly watch a regional from Isreal. I'd love to see how far FIRST has expanded and because it is in the middle of the week a lot of people would be able to watch it ( if they stay up for it or wake up early) because it does not conflict with regionals here. Plus an early morning regional means I can watch it before school starts. I think its a great idea.:D

I would love to watch the regional. In fact, who needs sleep? I just love seeing how an area of the world so chaotic can pull teams of high schoolers together and make amazing technology. I would love it even more if it was archived, i have a wee bit of school in there.

I would watch it especially since I sometimes work those hours. I would also like to see some friends of mine from team #1574 such as Guy_E and David55 from #1577. Dave

I bet you would have a lot more people watching the regional if you saved the video coverage. That way anyone can see it whenever they want, as many times as they want.

Wow, kind of feel's great knowing that there are soo many people who want to see our regional. We're watching the other regional's too(and luckly it's in a good time of the weekend from the afternoon till midnight). We hope you'll be able to see most of the matches in your free time in the morning.

it's great for us to watch it in the morning, consider it a thank you to us giving u guys exciting elimination matches as a substitute for prime time saturday night TV

If you guys would archive it, I know that most of our team will most likely watch it because we have an Israeli on our team. (A good friend of mine too).

The matches will be archived and uploaded live to SOAP, so anyone who misses the webcast can watch the matches at their free time.

Anyways, it looks like there is a lot of interest in the webcast and we are going forward with this. I will post an official announcement in the general forum in the next few days. We plan on having a few bonuses during the breaks so be sure that it will be quite a show.

i would love to except i would be alseep or at school along with most of our team as we are in pa. if u could possibly archive it onto soap or something definatly would watch it. our regional starts the day after urs ends so not sure when our team would be able to watch but i would LOVE TO SEE A REGIONAL FROM THERE!:)
