If you love trains you'd love our new robotics shop site. Right outside the back door is a very active track that runs right behind us. You can hear the train coming from a mile away.

Re: Post your Desktop!

Just made it last night... I like it :D

It took me a couple of hours of tweaking because Inkscape kept closing on me and deleting all of my work. Then I had to figure out a way of converting it... I ended up printing the screen and trimming stuff away from that in paint so I could use it as a .bmp file.

p.s. I am aware that the FIRST logo is on there weird but its for personal use and is ok.

pps DISCLAIMER: I did not make and do not own the FIRST logo or the matrix backgrounds.

ppps that is just my background. Will post another picture of my actual desktop.

pppps PM me if you like it...

EDIT:

look on the very bottom for my desktop pic
LOL, I cleaned up my desktop for this!?!?! Oh well, it was too tempting not to do. As you can see my Vista Gadget points out I need a #44 drill bit for a mini wheel I recently purchased. I also keep all my programs at the top and files at the bottom. Other stuff goes in my 'stuff' folder. I recommend everyone makes a stuff folder on their desktop. For me it acts as my 'second desktop'. With the logo of the team I created in the middle I have to say, I love my desktop! I've got everything a FIRSTer needs, easyC, VB, Inventor, Revit, Adobe Reader, GIMP, IE7 (hey, wait where's my firefox!?), game maker, express_sch, and I'll just throw in a full recycle bin too. As for files, well there's that game maker file I started a while ago, my learning CAD of a dice from Inventor. Oh, some spare code from OpenOffice, my stuff folder, and some animation of my robot rolling its eyes I attempted. Some of this stuff is so old I dont know where it's from. Oh, and who could forget? My Acer Management widget toolbar thing. And my battery is at 66% percent or so, oh too bad, I don't currently have any mail. Oh and I have turned the stupid voice recognition thing off (doesnt work well with a built-in laptop mic) oh and my volume is at low, and hey it's my bedtime! That's a lot of stuff for a 13-year old!!!!

This is how it always looks. The background is a pic of the Go-Kart my Grandfather and I built in 2005. I keep the icons to a minimum, I hate a clutered desktop. Found an Instructable that shows how to make XP look Vistae without actualy having to use Vista. Might do that, If so I will post.

To explain a little... I've been watching Randall Munroe's lectures (thus the AVI file on my desktop), plan on moving to Linux after I'm done learning the basics on another computer, and plan on leaving microsoft's empire as soon as I'm converted...Also the Firefox 3 Beta 1 is actually Firefox 3 Beta , it just didn't change that when I upgraded.

Enjoy!

I got motivated today and did it. It may look like Vista but it is not. It is Windows XP. Posted a Pic to prove it. Found this mod on Instructables.com

This is my wallpaper.

If you get rid of all the JPGs on my desktop, this is what's left:
Adobe Reader
Ednet (something for the college course I'm taking)
UT2004
AVG
FLV player
OpenOffice
Inventor 2008
MPLAB
CAD library
2008 FRC Manual
