1070's 2007 Robot Lifting

This is a video of our robot in action at the pits of the Silicon Valley Regional. It's not the first time Lady Dragon (I still don't know why we chose that name) has lifted members of the team. We think it's a good idea to use it for pep rallies at school. What student wouldn't want to be lifted 16"?

I saw this robot at LA. I liked it. But I've never seen it lift weight on only one side. Can it?

Interesting lifting mechanism. . . Can it lift fast and why it lift so high? Should it be more than 12 inches? I am just curious. :)

We actually got it working on Thursday of the Silicon Valley Regional. It totally changed the game for us after getting the one side to work. Too bad that was our last regional. At least we'll use it to gain some support at our school. We're planning on lifting schoolgirls on either side. :)

Lol, I'm not sure I've seen other lift mechanisms that are motor powered. I know two are pneumatically powered and most are ramps. It goes up 16" in about 5-8 seconds. Watching it lift is a thrill:

This was at the Elimination Matches at SoCal. We're lifting 599 and 968 in the last few seconds. Just seeing it rise is amazing.

Wow, That is a beautiful robot! Great job :)

Lifting schoolgirls on either side? Do you mean taking it around to elementary schools?

It's cool that you decided to go with 16". I've seen a lot of teams who only plan for around 13 inches, but their platforms sag and they only get the 4 inch bonus =P

It was designed to go up to 16" for two key reasons. 1) Any deflection of the platforms would be taken up by the extra height. 2) Any robot that couldn't get on the platform fully had a much better chance of getting to full height.
