I was pretty sure that 852 had six wheel drive and 753 went with their killer tank drive...? Anyway, I'll add what I know:

What ya wanna know bout 973?

6 wheels
Can score, doesn't much as we play defense for teams with faster systems.
Good Ramps

Got to Semi-finals with 114, 100

I may have heard wrong or am thinking of the same robot, but our smaller sponser who build our drive train also sponsors them, I believe, but could be wrong

Sumadin from FRC 8 collected some good data on tube scoring at SVR.

From what I have seen the best tube scoring robots will be:
100, 114, 701 (Bayou Finalist), 1726 (Arizona Finalist), 852, 766, 1359

The best ramps will be:
1323, 997 (PNW Champs), 668 (I think they're coming), and 1280 (SVR Champs)

Of course many teams will have made improvements - and there are plenty of teams we don't know about.

Hey!! First year driver, First year arm operator, First year Human Player(s), First year Coach, First Year Scouts, for 13 of 19 of the students who went to the Bayou it was their first competition. Trust me, their ego is in check. Anyways they did a terrific job at Bayou and a "non-call" away from a possible blue banner - I'm impressed.

This year's game cannot be dominated by any one bot. Every team has to know their strengths and everyone else's too. We had enough foresight to have kept to a reliable and proven arm design (prop's to Alekat, Travis, Salik, and that '05 crew) and even simpler yet durable drive system. Switching from 2 so-so ramps to 1 "easy to use" ramp should also give us more options.

There are some great teams coming to Davis - we just can't wait. Keep an eye for some local rookies as well, Team 2085 from Vaca High School, Team 2189 from Woodland/Pioneer High School, Team 2156 from Hiram Johnson High School in Sacramento, and Team 2073 from Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove. Also are some new teams from San Leandro, Carmel and Turlock. Let's be sure to show them what GP is all about and make it a memorable event for them and all of us.

Re: UC Davis Robots

115 is a 6 wheel drive, with a foldback arm

We were not a great ringer at SVR, but we expect to have the problems fixed by the Davis Regional. Expect us to boost up the average from SVR. Once everything works fine, we can probably average at least double of what we got at SVR.

Best case scenario, we'll be able to at least challenge the best ringers from SVR.

Re: UC Davis Robots

114: we should have all the itsy bitsy kinks worked out, as well as a very experienced drive team, who already have 2 regionals with finals under their belts. Expect to see us getting the dual camera Auton mode scoring reliably by saturday, as well as our driver using that nifty 2 speed function a lot more. Also, I may be adding a pneumatic brake to the drivetrain... We'll see how that idea floats with the team though.

Re: UC Davis Robots

well.... we will be there... the question remains... will our robot? i packed a monkey in the crate. i hope he hasn't run out of bananas and is hard at work building us a robot.

I might be in need of some programming assistance when we arrive too... i have some of the basics... though would like to have someone that i could lean on in case my luck fails me. please drop me a line if you are willing... i'll spill the details!... (pretty basic stuff... mapping controls and such.)

oh.... and for our robot... would make a great paperweight.... and it might hang a tube

thanks and good luck all.

So far only 3 for sure ramp bots?? Come-on... Someone fill us in on the rest of these bots!!

Re: UC Davis Robots

after making my joke in the original thread i realized some people might not know, Our robot (997) is a reliable 2 robot lifter, on average at PNW we lifter 1 to 12 inches and 1 > 4,.
both our lifters go to 12 inches

Re: UC Davis Robots

766 is a hybrid tube placer/ D bot. At SVR for the elimination matches, we played offense for the first minute scoring usually 2 ringers but can up to three depending on the oppsing d bot. then we played defense for the last 3o -45 seconds on their best scorer making sure they dont cmplete a long row or prevent them from deploying if they are a ramp bot. then we hurry back and get on our partners ramp.

the breakdown on our bot:
6 -wheel two speed drivetrain, very powerful (only 753 with their treads should be able to push around)

arm with a wrist, uses pneumatic claw to grab tube, quick scorer if undefended, merely average scorer when defended (we usually raise our arm and pin the d bot on the rack and score over them)

2.25 of ground clearance: we can climb any ramp. I mean any.

SVR finalist and the ones who knocked out the Cheesy Poofs in the Quarterfinals + we beat the two best tube scorers at SVR in two straight matches in the semis (100 and 114).

any more questions feel free to post or PM me

man i wish we were going looks like some good bots will be there. the best scoring robot will be 100. 114 is very good too... watch out for them. one of those plus another scoring robot to distract defense will be a hard alliance to beat. gl to all teams. i hope to see many of you at nationals

I'm confused as to why you choose to rank 100 above 114. From a purely statistical point, 114 was ranked higher, and scored more tubes per match. Plus, in our only head to head match, 114 came out on top.

Davis is gonna be fun.

It's because our robot looks so cool.

Haha I can't beleive your arguing this. I apologise.. Both 100 and 114 are amazing robots. 100 picks tubesup faster than anyone, but 114 can place tubes under extreme amounts of defense, i know personally, they beat us that way..

Haha is that better =D Good luck to you both at Davis.

100 does look pretty cool though ;-)

I like how a 100 vs 114 debate evolved out of this thread :p

If you want to see us duke it out, and you missed SVR, I can guarantee we will be against them in the first qualifying match of Davis, because the new and not-so-improved algorithm dictates the two lowest team numbers will be against each other in the first match. Last time we were pitched against each other, the rack was almost full by the end, and a spoiler was even used! By far the most offensive and fun match I have ever seen. Can't wait to do it again at Davis!

1960

We did not make it to PNW.... it conflicted with a VEX/FLL tourney that weekend... i cancelled... and signed up for Davis... long ago! Davis will be our only venue this year... unless......

We have rebounded well from our rookie season last year. We have an unfinished robot that sits in a crate. i posted on that topic earlier in this forum.

I mentioned earlier that i may need some help programming our bot upon arrival. I don't have much in the name of a programming dept. for our team. is there anyone that will help if i am in a pinch??? ... we are using "easy c".

As for our BOT.... it has the potential of hanging some tubes... we'll see if we can unleash that potential! It doesn't have ramps.

Good luck to all... and we'll see you soon!

I'm sure our programmer wouldn't mind helping you out there, assuming he has time. I'll ask him next time he comes online. But in case I forget (which I most likely will...) Just drop by our pit, and we'll help out in any way we can.

I made amendments to the post above, sorry for missing that, must have slipped my mid when i was trying to fill out the rest of the info.
thanks for correcting my error :)

and on the topic of programming, I PMed someone from your team who posted earlier offering our programmers assistance and said that if you still needed it we would stop by first thing on Thursday and say "hi." I already asked him and he is more then willing to help.

Just letting all the scouts know that today 766 has finally finished prgramming and can now score on all three levels. We also score much more quickly as now the box pperator and my self have gotten used to our new presets so we should score 4-5 defended, and 6-7 undefended. Any more questions about the bot just ask me in the pits. I am the one with our OI usually.
