Will we be having reall alliance selections this year, with the believe of having more teams and higher caliber teams too i think that is the way to go.

That's up to Kim to decide.
She really likes the Bash selection process.
I think it all depends on how many teams we have this year. I think if we had about the same number as last year, we should do bash style. But if we get a lot more, we should do pickings.

For everyone who doesn't know, can you explain what the selections from Bash is.

We will see on the selection process... And Alex, if you bring a team, you can help decided that :p

We basically have done a straight assignment of teams in serpentine fashion (like 1, 8, 24; 2, 9, 23; etc). But we may switch it up... you never know! We liked this at Bash because teams didnt have to worry about scouting, they could just have fun, show their new drivers what to do, etc. Plus it gives teams more time for matches (we dont have to stop for selections, just for lunch). Since we try to use this event to help Rookie teams, and many teams dont have their full team to help scout, it seems more fun/fair to just do it at will or at random. Just my thoughts. We will see what the committee says!

If you want to expand the Halloween theme, you could always have the alliance numbers on a bunch of apples and have representatives bob for them . You could even replace apples with something more robotics related...

Pies??? Oh wait... thats just Ruckus too! haha. Hmm... I think I like the apples idea! Or maybe we could put them in the center of Jelly donuts, and hang them from a string, and make people eat them...

Wow its waaaaayyyy too late at night!

Any definite date set for Ra-Cha-Cha yet? Or idea?
I know it's been said "Halloween Weekend" but... that kinda doesn't really help clarify when Halloween this year is on a Wednesday which is smack dab in the middle of the week.. :ahh:

Ya know.. just sayin'. :p

<crosses fingers so it doesn't conflict with River Rage again this year>

Re: 2007 RachaCha Ruckus

Right now its tentatively the weekend before or after Halloween. We have to get the school & the field when we can.

Unfortunately we have tried for two years to NOT conflict with River Rage, but they have either changed the dates on us or not released them before we needed to book the date.

If You get Tim Dellas, Alex (insert last name), Andrew Doane, or Rob (insert last name) you can get a weeks paycheck from me. :p

I have a little more information. :)

I now have 3 possible schools to work with. I will be doing a little presentation to two more schools soon and hopefully hear back from the school i donated my senior project robot to and possibly get it back. The sole reason of donating it in the first place was to get the team started, but it's been 2 years and nothing has happened, so i am going tl try to get it back and mod it to work for the Ruckus.

with that being said, i think it's an 04 OI system, what would i have to do to get it able to play in the Ruckus?

I"m trying to get Dave to sign us up, but he is reluctant with the long trip. You might see 1038 up there, if I have my way.

But Dave told me he has family in Penfield.
He can stuff at least 20 kids in there ( and a few mentors)!:D

I respectfully state that if I were a competitor at this event, I think I'd prefer the top seeded teams have the option to pick their own alliances. Because the intermixing of the alliance robots' functions is so critical to the alliance's strategy and success this year (Can you climb our ramps? How many ramps do we want in the alliance? Do we want a 2 defensive/1 offensive alliance or another configuration? etc.), I don't think random pairings would be the best choice for the elimination rounds. For example, what if numbers worked out such that 3 defensive/rampbots ended up in one alliance? I don't think any of those 3 teams would enjoy that too much. Although it would be fun to see full team defense played against an alliance, I don't think it would work for very long. You run the risk of formulating too many weird/incompatible alliances, and then the gameplay in the elims would suffer.

Just my opinion. Hopefully you guys get a ton of teams this year and you can run a standard playoff operation.
