food prices at a regional?
So, after going to St. Louis and BMR, I want to know, what is the typical on-site price for food?
At St. Louis, it was something like 3.25 for a 20 oz bottle of coke, and 3.75 for a hot dog. At BMR, it was 7.00 for a personal pizza (although for one day, they made it buy 1 get 1 free), and (if I remember correctly) 2.50 for a taco, chips & salsa. |
Re: food prices at a regional?
At LA, they tend to be kind of high (and variety? hot dogs or Mexican food). This year, a lot of people avoided that by gettin the preordered lunches--main dish, chips, cookies, and soda for $6.
San Diego--$5-6 for a Carl's hamburger. (extra for drinks) However, there was a Chik-Fil-A about 200 yards from the north entrance (going around the arena) and other stuff nearby. Those got a lot of business (standard prices for that kind of place, instead of inflated). |
Re: food prices at a regional?
If it is held at a college, there is usually a student union with fast food chains or other decently priced meal offerings somewhere on campus nearby. In Orlando and Las Vegas, most of our team members just took the walk over there for cheaper prices than the arena food.
Otherwise, the prices at the arena are quite high, but it is expected. $2-3.50 for a soda was about the norm, and we all anticipated paying around $8-10 for lunch. |
Re: food prices at a regional?
I went to 4 regionals.
The arena events at Buckeye(boxed lunch. $2 for a small OJ), BAE($6 for heatlamp dried chicken fingers) and GTR(The Mac n' Cheese wedges were fun. The cnady choices reminded me of Hershey Park. WHich isn't a surprise since they are the Hershey arena) were the same insane high prices any in unfortunate enough to pay at any sporting event. FIRST as nothing to do with the prices. It's the arena and the company that runs the food vending that calls the prices. I went to a McDOnald for lunch at GTR (it's so cool they have Phili CHeesesteak in Canada). At FLR the prices are a bit more reasonable but truth be told all I ate were the boxed lunches my team bought. I occasionally got an overpriced soda or water from the vending machines but I wasn't interested in apying for th ehigh priced and uninteresting food at the afterpasrty on Friday so I went down the street to an OCB (Old China Buffet) and got my dinner there and then came back to get my Kareoke on. |
Re: food prices at a regional?
At UTC it was $2.50 for a soda, $6.00 for chicken tenders, $4.00 for a pizza slice, and $5.00 for fries.

Um... too much? I just got a $4 water at MWR. The rest of the time the team ate on the bus.
