One AMAZING Auto!
Las Vegas 2007 - Semifinal match one, round two
I don't think something like this is likely to ever happen again. Our auto messed up and stopped short, 8's defense repeatedly struck the rack and sent the spider legs swinging. Come 14 seconds our auto releases the gripper by default, it bounces off the ground and lands right on a bottom spider leg for a score! They paused beginning the teleoperated period to fix the one fallen off spider foot, but then the round resumed and turned out with the highest regional score - 260 to 38 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcJViZ4fLxA I linked a vid from our team in the stands since the webcast failed to show just how remarkable the bounce was. You can catch the complete broadcast of the match here: http://www.thebluealliance.net/tbatv...p?matchid=3165 - Jeff |

Whoa... absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing!

Re: One AMAZING Auto!
wow that was pretty cool. did the refs let it stay?
|
Re: One AMAZING Auto!
Amazing, but did it count? It looked like it fell on past the buzzer.
|
Re: One AMAZING Auto!
Wow, that really is amazing. The keeper counted and the rest of the match is just as amazing as the autonomous period.
|
Re: One AMAZING Auto!
I believe the refs let it stay on. The ref came onto the field because one of the spider leg endcaps was pulled off by the defensive team.

Check out QF-19 of the Midwest Regional. Another example of fluke auton scoring by bouncing onto the spider leg.
PS - I couldn't see the video playing, so if it's the wrong one, please do correct me. |
Re: One AMAZING Auto!
I remember at GLR this sort of thing happened too. (I think it was 1114) Went up to the goal and released their keeper. It got stuck on the face plate. then their alliance's are swung up and hit it onto the leg. I was in total amazement

Re: One AMAZING Auto!
There was also a semi-final match (maybe final match) where we attempted to put it on one of the upper legs but it fell off and caught onto the bottom (or middle leg). I do like scoring magnificently in auton.

Re: One AMAZING Auto!
That is insane!
|
Re: One AMAZING Auto!
That was really cool, and great Auto from the other team hitting the rack to stop the opponents from scoring in auto.
|
Re: One AMAZING Auto!
O yea, Team 207 did the same thing at the Colorado Regional, it's amazing.

Re: One AMAZING Auto!
Aww, in Philly I scored a ringer in a similar fashion but as the human player. (throw, bounce, score) About 20 seconds later they stopped the match because of one of the feet coming off, and they made us reset instead of continue so my points didn't count :(

Re: One AMAZING Auto!
hahahahahaha
hilarious that absolutely amazing |
Re: One AMAZING Auto!
Wow, wow! Just pure luck I must way!
|
Re: One AMAZING Auto!
Wow, that's pretty cool. And at least the spider foot came off between auton and teleoperated control and didn't have to cause a match reset!

Re: One AMAZING Auto!
Pure programming geniuses! I could see this happening based on past years crazy autonomous mishaps, very rare and very exciting.

Re: One AMAZING Auto!
gotta love 8's autonomous rack shaking there, but that was just a beautiful score. the semi there was disappointing, but nice job 1425, 254 and 1983.
btw, the match was stopped to fix the rack, but autonomous was not replayed. |
Re: One AMAZING Auto!
That was pretty awesome. Our autonomous actually served it's purpose once. Congrats on the victory 1425, 254, and 1983.

Re: One AMAZING Auto!
That was planned all along, right?
Just Kidding, That was an awesome play! By the Way, Congrats. |
Re: One AMAZING Auto!
As a programmer for 1425 I'd love to say that we had a dedicated x86 processor doing physics calculations of the tube on the fly that resulted in that score....
But we don't :-D. That was actually the first time in a while the autonomous mode worked that poorly...it stopped much shorter of the rack than it normally does - but I guess it worked out. |
