Possible plans include;
-Gazebo
-Large bonfire
-Save parts for the next strange thing we have to build (most likely).

We're going to continue practicing - there's plans on our end for a healthy dose of off-season events, and heaven knows that we'll still be doing demonstrations with the 'bot a year from now. (Last year's bot, for instance, is going over to a local college today for demonstrations for area high schools.)

We'll probably also use it before next season to start training a new drive team (even if the game's different next year, it'll give them some experience with the basics of operating a robot) and working on our scouting techniques. So I think it's safe to say that our rack's going nowhere anytime soon.

I hope we take it apart. Our room is small and that huge rack makes it smaller! Must make room for next year =]

we were jking about the idea of a gazebo or a bonfire, but either way i hope we do something cool with it. its rather large and space is always an issue for us.

we took ours apart right after the build season ended, and I took most of the wood and gave it to Stage crew for our set, because we were running low on wood over there (most of our robotics team is also on stage crew).

well the mokey exibit is a good idea but we could also make it a jungle gym for the robotics members on the team for those late work nights. that would have come in handy. or better yet make it a jail for all the roudy team members.

we used it as a coat rack all through build season and will probably continue to do so until...next build season when it goes away.
come to think about it, we wont need it until next build season for a coat rack anyway. Supposed to be nice this summer.

We are gonna put ours in our team presidnet's backyard :cool:
That or it's gonna stay in the work site until next season and we use the parts to build w/e they come up with for next year. Either way it will be put to good use :D

We destroyed ours a bit after build season ended... it took up way too much space. Kressly started refering to it as "Woodhendge"

I was thinking the rack might make a great jungle gym for all the people on the team with excess energy! (Saftey glasses and gloves are a must while using it, though.) (-;

Crazy... I should have read your other response before I posted. But I guess since we agree on that point, the ÜberBots' rack will indeed become a jungle gym!

I wanted the local Explosive Ordnance Disposal team to blow it up with 5 pounds of C4, but the team decided to dismantle it and save the lumber for next years monstrosity

NO!!!! im siding with smurf with the idea of a jungle gym and if you want billy you can invite some monkeys to hang out with us if the zoo allows it of course.

Nothing is official yet, but a couple of teammates and I have suggested using it to hang freshman who get on our nerves. Kinda like a freshman initiation or something of that nature....

Although the team members who built the rack want to burn it (right now we need the heat - Mother Nature apparently lost her calendar), I think there's way too much reusable material there. Lots of good wood, rope, PVC. Our team motto: Never throw anything away.
Maybe we can turn it into a great white elephant - put it in somebody's yard, they can pay $25 to have it removed or $15 to have it taken to somebody else's yard....

Good question.

We're keeping ours around because we've still got a bunch of off season competitions. (too many to count on the east coast) Our robot isn't an easy one to drive, so the rookie drivers will need practice.

After our last off-season competition we can still use it for some driver tryouts and stuff in the new season. Hopefully we'll have a robot done early enough to actually do something like that, though.

Heh. I like donating it to the zoo... but would the monkeys have to wear goggles too!?

As for team 1511, far be it from this college mentor to decide, but methinks it's gonna be stowed with the rest of our field stuff, or recycled for next year's stuff (depends on what the game is)... except that awesome green light thing. That's an awesome green light thing and can be used for aaaanything!

It would be pretty useful for a fetish movie.

I have a feeling ours will exist until IRI. After that, it will be left upstairs until the fire marshall hacks it down, somebody gets sick of it and throws it away, or we donate it to our school as a sign of gratitude for all the support they've given us over the years.

Come to think of it, it has the potential for a very cool bird cage.

90% of our robotics team is on stage crew also. it must me some sort of weird, robotics/tekie thingy. :confused:

I'm guessing we're going to have to dismantle it and take it out of Reflexite; what a pity. We put so much effort into building that thing, even if the breaking spider feet don't give that away. So many memories...

We'll probably disassemble it and attempt to stash it somewhere as scrap for next year. I'd hate to throw away all that wood, we were really lucky and managed to get a bunch of 10ft long 2x4's for free because our school happened to be ripping out a row of old lockers during build season, we happened to be right there, and we got the scrap :)

We actually never had the time to build it. BY the time we decided we wanted to practice with it, it was two days before ship day and we decided it wasn't worth it. We did make a couple spider legs though.

a few rolls of 1/2 " hardware cloth and we have a really nice outdoor iguana enclosure, complete with perches. Leave the bottom off and you can move it all over the lawn and let them graze on the grass under it.

We have to move after the season is over so the rack is going to be torn down immediately and packed up like everything else.

I really don't know what we're going to do with our rack. Right now, it is taking up about a sixth of our lab space, so it can't stay there for long after the season. We'll probably just take it apart and use the pieces for future woodworking projects. ;)

It really has begun to rot already... I did a little tally. Our game object graveyard has:
-A huge rack without the spiders
-Pieces of an Aim High goal
-A half dismantled Tetra goal, with about 5 variably smashed tetras all over
-The base of a Raising the bar rolling goal
-Pieces of a Zone Zeal goal
-A shattered box section from stack attack

It's quite the graveyard, all over the place...

i'd have to say the rack would be fabulous for impaling and displaying previous years robots... coats are just an insult to such fine craftsmanship:)
