Around 7-8ish Wednesday I think. All I know is that we won't get there in time to be able to uncrate our robot, so our friends from Ponca City, team 476, is going to do it for us.

Flight's supposed to be leaving EWR (newark) at 4:30 so we should be in Atlanta by 6.

And we should be at the hotel at around 7:30-8ish I'd assume with the Marta trip + luggage, etc.

Bus leaves at 4:00AM Wednesday... dad's taking a flight out of Quad Cities International at 5:30AM though... I don't know when he'll get there though.

On wednesday by plane, First wave(7 ppl-drive team and coaches) of Team 1636 will arrive at 4:10pm est and the second wave(16 ppl-assistant coach, chaperons, and students) will arrive at 5:55 pm est .

Our bus leave at 6 PM Tuesday. Our arrive time at the Marriott is approximately 6 AM. Wednesday.

We leave school Wed. at 10:30am to New York to take plane leaves at 3:05pm arrives around 5:15pm. times of flight are appox.

My flight leaves Toronto at 10am on Wednesday and lands at 12:18. So if you see someone looking incredibly lost at the airport please help me!!! haha and I have to sit at baggage claim for an hour waiting for 237 to get there. That is to say...an hour banking on me not getting lost. I'll prolly end up arriving at baggage claim after them. Haha should be a fun day.

Ummm.. we have a 9-something flight out of newark on Thursday morning... yes Thursday. My team is kinda, well, not smart on travel... I told them we had to leave Wednesday but there was no getting them to go otherwise :( So we won't be seeing anyone in the airport... but you will see about 6 of the 102 members running to our pit when we get there haha. You'll know we are there by the 102 member (being me) freaking out (for I have never been on a plane before :/) Ahhhhh the things I do for FIRST haha

About half of our team is getting there around 2 pm wednesday and the other half (including me, not that that's important) is getting there around 7:30 pm wednesday.

Though nobody will be wearing their shirts, but maybe a robotics button? Yes everyone wear your buttons so we can strike up a convo with you on the long flight

Wednesday 4:45am Were leaving Colonie High School for our 2 hour Yellow School bus adventure to Newburg (stewart Airport) where we pick up our filght to ATL at 9am. We should get into Atlanta about 11:30am or so.
Then its off to the Aquarium with team 103.

Is anyone else going to the Aquarium??
We've never been there, is it any good?

My father and myself are driving to Atlanta, leaving around 10 or 11pm on Tuesday to arrive late Wednesday afternoon at the Hilton in downtown Atlanta.

Google Maps is predicting a 15 hour, 54 minute drive. (Although I've been on so many long car trips, it doesn't really bother me much.)

I have looked into booking an Amtrak ticket from my hometown to Atlanta, GA for such a trip in the past, as I just hate all the hassles and constant security checks at airports. If I did take the train, I'd have to change trains twice: once at Union Station in New Haven and again in Washington DC. The round-trip train fares were slightly cheaper than flying, but because of the way the timetables worked out I'd have to leave on Tuesday around noon, which would mean I'd miss another day of school classes. :(

0400 wakeup (CA Time), 0445 shuttle ride, 0545 arrive at SFO, 0900 flight boarding, 1700 landing in ATL.

I think our flight is the most interesting one...
We are flying today, Sunday, from Tel Aviv to Paris. We stay there for the night and than on Monday morning we fly to Atlanta from Paris. We are landing on Monday, 1PM.
We could have flown directly, but it would have been much more expansive. This way, we also get to see Paris at night...

Yup. Unfortunately it means leaving at 6:45 AM, which means I get to leave my house at around 3:30-4:00 AM.

254 usually arrives on Tuesday to let everyone have a free, non stressful day Wednesday.

From what I've been told, I'm pretty sure we're going straight to Atlanta. It's a 22 hour ride. But I've never been on a train before, so I'm pretty excited. Except for the fact that we're going to be on the train for almost a full day and there's nowhere to sleep except in the seats.

To get on a plane... I suggeest getting there like, 2 hours early.

Man, I love the fact that Nationals is during my Spring Break. No having to miss school or minimum grade requirements for me.

I don't recommend wearing robotics buttons on the flight. They don't care for people wearing sharp pointy objects.

The CT caravan is leaving around 7am on Tuesday to drive down and arriving around 3pm on Wednesday. (We're old. We stay overnight in a hotel.) All of you flying over PA or TN look out the plane and wave at us!

We have a 4:18pm Wednesday flight out of Boston, to arrive at approx. 7:03 in Atlanta. Just look for 65 tie-dye wearing people walking around. :)

It's probably not a SWITCH. It's probably just a stop in NYC.
That wouldn't surprise me in the least...

And as far as power outlets go, there's usually two to every seat.
But don't hold me to that...
There is DEFINITELY outlets in seats 19-20 or 22-24
(depending on which way the train is facing).

Also, the power has a tendency to cut in and out,
so you might want to unplug your laptop/whatever you have plugged in,
and wait to re-plug until the power is restored
(it's usually only a few seconds, but it'll save you a power surge!)

Dining car food is VERY expensive, so bring snacks and spare your wallet!

Exploding Bacon and Windermere Prep are sharing a bus up to Atlanta. It should be fun. We leave at noon so we can get there in time to uncrate. Hit the hotels by 9:30-10:00

We arrive at penn station on train 280, and we leave 2 hours later on train 19. We've been looking up the train info online, we either have a new train with outlets in every seat, or a older train with like 4 to a car.

MOE is leaving the Philly airport at 9:30, arriving about 11:30. Beware - they wear the green team shirt while traveling. And there will be about 70 students, mentors, parents, siblings and alumni on the same flight. Wearing green. Bring your sunglasses. :D

yeah i wasnt thinking when i said that.. and its not like anyones going to be on the same flight, cuz even though we get in at roughly the same times we come from different places (particularly non-stop flights from a small state, such as my team)

I remember when we took that flight in 2002...SJC-ATL-Orlando. It was brutal. Long night on a hot, stuffy, cramped plane, with two robotics teams onboard making all kinds of noise the whole time.

We specifically wanted/needed to book our flights in order to not miss Wednesday of school. Since we booked kind of late (2 weeks prior), we missed out on better flights, and went with what the cheapest option was, but not necessarily the best. While our mentors are paying more than us to leave at the same time but beat us by 2-3 hours, the kids wanted to keep the cost as low as possible, so we have some awkward flights.

Ok, I have my cab all planned, I took the money out of the bank to pay for him and anything along the way (MARTA), I got a bunch of HW done, I talked to my advisor, and I started packing.

I just have to do CAD, present my speech (on FIRST, of course), do more HW, go to Statics, pack some more, sleep, go to class all day Wednesday, finnish up last minute stuff, and then get up a 4:30am. If you see me as a zombie on Thursday, you'll know why. :D

Tim and I leave Indy at 6:25pm Wednesday and arrive in ATL at 7:59 (knowing Delta you can add an hour to that)

The rest of the team leaves Wednesday morning at 9:00am and has the team building bus ride. They should get in by about the same time.

We had that happen once one year and it wasn't fun rushing to get the thing out of the crate and inspected that morning we whowed up in Jersey at 10am. (2004) I'm sure I can round up a few people who could find some tools and do that for you. I see that your team is in the Newton division.

the airline decided to reschedule our flight without telling us from 530 pm wed to 230 pm wed....so thank god one of our teammates looked or who knows what could have happened...oh well, we'll see everyone there

At least the east coast teams have the option to take a train , a bus, or even drive. The west coasters are forced to fly for the most part. Be thankful that you have options. I wish all the best in Atlanta. BTW, Our VEX team will be arriving at 1:52 PM on Wednesday.

Our team is taking an overnight bus from Baltimore tonight (Tuesday) leaving about 6 p.m. We hope to get to Atlanta, Days Inn downtown, by about 8 a.m. and do a little touring. Some of the mentors are volunteering, so we'll be at the Dome for check in and orientation,and hopefully our pit team will have time to set up tomorrow night as well. Then...who knows?

Anyone interested in meeting up later Wednesday evening, after pit setup, if you are around?

Myself and our animator are flying in at 7:19 on Wednesday on flight 834. Our programmer is arriving a little over an hour ahead of us, and is going to wait for us so we can all take a taxi to the Embassy Suites. Hopefully we'll see other FIRST teams on the flight, its always fun to spend a 5 hour flight with other FIRST junkies :cool:

My team's already in Atlanta - they arrived this morning by bus (left 7 PM last night from Baltimore) and are doing the touring thing for a bit.

On the other hand, my flight (as my team now knows) arrives at 5:50 AM. I'm on a business trip to New Mexico, so tomorrow's a race back to the airport after my last meeting, a 9pm flight to Vegas, then on overnight to Atlanta...

Wow, reading all of the posts in this thread makes my team and I humble and grateful to all those people going through so much to get here to Atlanta. Especially when our team only has a 30 minute ride downtown. Thanks to everyone coming and best of luck to all. It will be a great event! :D
