Did anyone else notice the field error on Einstein?
Not that it would affect the match at all, but I noticed that the numbers on the plates on the top row of the rack were in a different order than the numbers on the other fields. On Einstein, the numbers increased going counter-clockwise, while on the other fields, they increased while going clockwise.

Re: Did anyone else notice the field error on Einstein?
That's because one of the FTA guys who was putting it together was in a rush to get it done instead of taking their time in doing it right . Thats what they get when they choose to do it themselves instead of asking for help.

Does it matter?
YES = Then How? NO = Then forget about it. Don |

That is why there was a delay before the first match on Einstein as the FTAs and Refs were discussing this and making sure the people working the PDAs knew what was going on. |
Re: Did anyone else notice the field error on Einstein?
Well, it doesn't matter... but I'm not going to just forget about it. It makes absolutely no difference, and nobody really did anything wrong, so I won't make a big deal of it. But there really isn't any reason just to forget a random bit of knowledge.
(After all, It may be useful in FIRST trivial pursuit twenty years down the road :p ) EDIT: It doesn't matter because all of the PDA weilding refs knew what was going on, as per Ricky Q.'s post. |
Re: Did anyone else notice the field error on Einstein?
Yeah, I noticed that the rack on Einstein was built backwards. How did I know? I had the honor of being one of the refs who was working the PDAs on Einstein. Did it matter? Not really ... it was a little annoying and confusing, but it didn't affect the scoring at all. After checking, and rechecking, and rechecking the scores came through correctly in the end.

Re: Did anyone else notice the field error on Einstein?
hey, about the lighting........
im from team 910, we had an auton that worked 6 out of 7 times during our qualifying matches thurs/friday, and granted we had some unexpected problems during the finals in Curie, while we were on einstine, we noticed that some of either the flood lights or whatever sort of lighting FIRST had in the dome messed us up.....the angle that our camera was at while we would drive up to the rack apparently would line up with a flood light in the background of the real light we were looking for and confused the programming quite a bit. I was told they did something last year to fix lighting issues in the dome but did nothing this year.....not sure why though. |
Re: Did anyone else notice the field error on Einstein?
Every Field at the Dome had either a lighter side or darker side espicially Einstein b/c of all the other fancy lighting that was hooked up to that "center stage". As long as the FTA tests the green lights to make sure there is no signicant problems then all is well by them. A huge dis-advantage to those who had already programmed their cameras once and did not have the opportunity to program it twice. (Once being their home field and the second would be Einstein.)

Re: Did anyone else notice the field error on Einstein?
They did give teams the opportunity to recalibrate their cameras on Einstein... I didn't see anyone on the field at that time, but then again I was watching from Curie seating.
