For those in similar situations... i guess its time to start recruitment... hmmm....

For many years LASA Robotics was a small sized team, 7 - 10 members. Then it started growing up to 18 and then more. When the team was still smallish, a boatload of the team's base graduated in 2004. Those seniors had pretty well covered every area of the team, mechanical, programming, etc. Their graduation left the remaining team members feeling tentative, nervous - until the first day of robotics. :) Then they were fine. And, they learned that the graduates, for the most part, were one email or AIM message away. In recent years, we have developed a tradition of Senior Toasts on the Friday of our Lone Star Regional competition. Everyone gathers together, students, parents, mentors and we toast the Seniors with sparkling apple juice. The seniors each have an opportunity to speak and often share their wisdom. This year, one of our seniors encouraged the students, many of whom were rookies this year, 'not to be afraid.' All of the seniors encouraged their team mates, telling them that they will be fine because of their year or years' experience with the team. It was a very humbling and powerful time with the team. Seniors rock.
All the best to you, Class of 2007.
