2008 Regional Dates
Does anybody know the dates for the 2008 Regionals. We are interested in the new Oklahoma City Regional, and would like to know when it will be. We are hoping that there will not be any scheduling conflicts with Lone Star. We are also wanting to add one more regional to our schedule. :)

Re: 2008 Regional Dates
Won't be released until the fall. Sorry.

Re: 2008 Regional Dates
The "Welcome to 2007 FRC Season" email was sent out on 12 Sep 2006. It had links to the calendar, but I don't know if all the regional dates were finalized then. If not then, it was shortly thereafter, as regional registration began 2 Oct 2006.

Re: 2008 Regional Dates
In July - August normally some information from individual users that are on planning committees is release/rumor on when a regional is. Of course that information isn't official until FIRST posts it in Mid September.
Until then many will be wondering |

Re: 2008 Regional Dates
The Hawaii regional is set! March 27-29, 2008.
The committee had to secure the Stan Sheriff Center at the UH Manoa campus and move some of our mens volleyball games already. It will be official when Dean Kamen makes the announcement in Hawaii on May 14! Hope all of you can come! |
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
Any insiders have an estimated date of the Vegas regional in 2008?
Thanks |
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
I'm looking for expected dates of regionals March 13-15... my spring break. That looks as though it would be the only time I could go to a regional that isn't in Chicago. I'm looking for a fun place to go that's pretty far from here. I was planning on Hawaii but I just can't afford to miss any school again.

Re: 2008 Regional Dates
Hello...
I wondered about this too and since we go to VCU every year I looked up the VCU Segal center's schedule and as usual they have the first Thurs, Fri, and Sat in March scheduled, but what was odd was that wednesday was scheduled also..then again...it might be a set-up day. Odd that they call it a conference... |
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
Isn't Easter in the middle of March next year? Is FIRST going to skip that week or are they going to go on with the regionals? If they do have regionals during that weekend, would anyone actually go?
|
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
Easter is March 23. Schools in Michigan will also be on break BEFORE, Easter, instead of after like usual.
|
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
Good Friday is March 21, Holy Saturday is March 22 and Easter is March 23, 2008.
Passover is April 19, 2008 (during Championships in Atlanta). |

Re: 2008 Regional Dates (LVR)
Sorry about delay in confirmation of previous estimate for Las Vegas Regional...the regional venue is available for us March 27-29 (at UNLV's Thomas and Mack Arena of course). Expect an even bigger and better event with many positive changes our planning committee is implimenting! Of course this is not "official"...but I am on the planning team so draw your own conclusions.

Re: 2008 Regional Dates
Any word or hint of a venue and date for the new Seattle Regional yet?
|
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
Seeing that I had nothing to do this moment, I compiled the list of responses about regionals so far, (ill post updates as time goes along)
In this thread so far it's been said: Wisconsin Regional - March 13 - 15, 2008 Peachtree Regional - March 13 - 15, 2008 New Minnesota Regional - March 27 - 29, 2008 Hawaii regional - March 27-29, 2008. Las Vegas Regional - March 27-29, 2008 (not official) |
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
What I've heard for seattle is that it will be at the Key Arena (possibly just a rumor), and I haven't heard much beyond speculation about dates.
Will team 1983 possibly be seeing the high rollers up here in seattle? We're not sure yet if we're going to have the funds for 3 regionals, and we are definitely attending portland and seattle. I know many of our members would like to go back down to vegas though, we were thrilled to get a win under our belts in vegas our rookie year. You guys were definitely a team for us to look up to. |

The High Rollers are indeed planning to attend the new Seattle Regional, especially if it is scheduled during the first couple of weeks. We are excited about a chance to visit Seattle (who wouldn't be?). We are hoping to continue the momentum gained co-winning the Championship in Atlanta and think being a part of a new regional is a great way for the kids to continue growing... |
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
Does anybody have ANY idea when the Canadian regionals near Toronto will be? (GTR and Waterloo?). If any of them are on the weekend of the 22nd than I'll be freezing in Canadia.

Re: 2008 Regional Dates

Re: 2008 Regional Dates
So Manchester is the first week and Boston is the forth week, thanks for that. Are any other regionals in my area that my team could go to, I live in a town not to far from Boston.

The planning committe is still working on nailing down dates for the OKC Regional. We would love to have it fall where it does not fall iether up against Houston or Kansas City. As soon as something is firmed up hopefully that information can be released.

Re: 2008 Regional Dates
If you are deeply concerned, contacting the planning committee is your best bet. Here are a couple other things you can try:
If the event is at a university, there is a high probability that it will be near the school's spring break when athletic teams and events aren't using the facilities as much as they normally would. If the event is at any sort of conference center / stadium, they may have a calendar of events for the year that lists FIRST as some sort of conference or competition (generally listed as open to public). It may be wise, though, to have a couple back-up plans ready in case the dates you want really really don't work out - somebody mentioned Easter as a mid-competition season big holiday, that is definitely something to look at. |
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
i hope that seattle is week 6 because we want to go hawaii and then go straight to seattle, that would make a fun First filled week.

On another note, it looks like there will only be about 15 slots or so for non-Hawaii teams. :( |
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
I spoke yesterday with Donn Griffith at USC; Palmetto is still getting nailed down. He said things should be official in a few weeks.
|
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
After speaking with "___," VCU will be during week 2..........."unofficially."
Can anyone confirm the FLR week? We want to attend but heard from other sources that it may be during week 2 or 3? |
Re: 2008 Regional Dates
i have heard that there will be 6 weeks this year, and the only regional that week right now the NYC

Careful you might crack from the temperature difference (If you need a good reference point watch Cool Runnings for the scene when the Jamacians first experience winter in Calgary. That's sort of upstate NY). |

I heard a rumor that the Midwest Regional and the Boilermaker Regional were going to be on different weekends this year. Does anyone know if this is true? Cause I'd really like to be able to go to both. :)
