Duct Tape Prom Wear

Well, I'm not sure if any other FIRST members have done this, but it'll definitely bring out the designer in you.

Are there any other FIRST members who have had the pleasure of wearing Duct Tape at all?

I didn't even go to prom--no date, waste of >$50. Besides, I wouldn't be around to write this post if I had gone...:)

I've heard of people wearing duct tape, but it seems that it would be very uncomfortable. It won't breathe well...at all...and if you screw up, you end up ripping layers of skin off with the stuff. Not to mention--that duct tape is for the off-season robot mods, not for wearing! :D

I would've liked to see some of the reactions you got, though.

Incorporating zip-ties into your clothing gets a lot more nerd points than this, I think...

I am a COMPLETE duct tape nerd. I love it. But my attempts to make a whole dress/suit have failed miserably, but there is good money in it though lol... I have made two top hats, two purses, countless wallets, a cane, a belt, a holster, and a muzzle (dont ask, it was a long plane ride and Baker was loud lol) but it's a lot of fun

Perhaps I need to explain my outfit: Aside from duct tape, it does light up.

And for those who want to imitate, there are clothing patterns available. Just look for your nearest crafts store.

Yes duct tape doesn't breathe. But I already took that into consideration. I did make a bracelet/watch/wrist thingy with small fans on it in order to circulate the air in my suit.

There's serious scholarship money in wearing a duct tape dress or tux to prom.

WOW, I didn't mean to offend anyone!..... Like I said, I thought that it was pretty funny. If you read the end of my comment. I just thought that it was crazy for someone to do that, because where I live everyone kind of just conforms, acts non-transendentalistic, and doesn't do anything to stick out. Jeez, did not expect the three negative feedbacks for one comment misunderstood. Next time I will just not say anything. Just because someone posts something that I don't agree with, doesn't mean that I am gonna hammer them with negative rep points, sorry I just think that is a little ridiculous. Sorry if I made anyone mad, (Which i obviously did, because people are taking this like I am some kind of bigot, or a pessimistic person) I was just saying that CD has some crazy subjects that you don't really see other places, and that is good. It is great to change up the norm and non-conform. Just because I said that this thread was stupid, doesn't mean that I think that it is truly stupid, just that I think that it is stupid in a funny kind of way. But to rap it all up, sorry anyone who took this the wrong way, I really didn't mean any harm out of this.

Mason,
It may have been the way the opinion was expressed. CD provides a great place for exploring topics and having fun discussions in Chit Chat. If you do searches, you will see many topics, many discussions, many ideas, many opinions expressed on a wide variety of topics. It is a opportunity to think in different ways and develop tolerance. The duct tape outfits are something that a lot of people would not do but the people that do have spent a lot of time and energy on the designs and the creations. We all have opinions and thoughts, it is how we express them that earns the rep we receive. By that I'm not necessarily speaking of green or red dots.

Jane

Yes there is, and of course I tinkered with this idea for a while, but decided to just get a rental.:)

How much duct tape did you go through making that?

Duct Tape suit as always been the traditionally AWESOME suit for Prom, especially for FIRSTers.

But our beloved programmer, decided to take it a notch up.
