Re: USF Robotics Invitational in Tampa

I was referring in my earlier post to the optional backpack donation mentioned on the Tempest N' Tampa registration form:
Quote:

C. Entry Fees (FRC only):
1. Registration (on or before September 14th): $300.
2. Optional donation program: One Filled Back-Pack for an elementary school student collected at the event. This very successful school sponsorship program is something that we admired and wished to continue in our area. Team 79 has adopted the Clearwater Intermediate School; a special needs school in Pinellas County. The donated back packs will be presented to the school along with other collected school supplies at the competition. Materials to include: Small Backpack, 1 pair scissors, 3 pocket folders, 1 box of 24 crayons, 3 glue sticks, 1 ruler with inches and centimeters, 1 package pencils, 2 large erasers, 2 black pens, 2 red pens, 2 packages loose leaf notebook paper, 1 school supply box, 1 package colored pencils, 1 package washable markers, 2 packages tissues, 3 spiral notebooks. Teams are also encouraged to add something special to the pack such as a team button, good luck card, or letter to the student.
I'm sure as many school supplies as teams want to donate will be welcome.

Glad to hear some teams will be taking part in the back-pack donation to Clearwater Intermediate School. It will be a welcome addition to the school supplies we have already raised for them this year.

We have a great turnout expect, and being only 2 days away, I'm starting to get excited. Below is a list of the teams that have registered so far. There are a couple that I have not included that are tenative. In addition we have about 15 FLL teams competing and 6 FTC teams.

79 - Krunch
108 - SigmaC@ts
179 - Children of the Swamp
233 - The Pink Team
744 - Shark Attack
801 - Horsepower
1029 - Wolvcat Robotics
1251 - Tech Tigers
1345 - Platinum Dragons
1368 - Countryside HS
1369 - Minotaurs
1390 - WELETHEDAWGSOUT
1523 - MARS Robotics
1543 - Riddler's Revolution
1592 - Bionic Tigers
1842 - Twisted EGO
1902 - Exploding Bacon
2152 - Team Raptor

As part of the Friday night activities, we're encouraging teams to bring their x-Box 360's to connect to a LAN party. We have 6 high-res monitors available and are hoping to run a few tourneys for everyone's entertainment. So if you have an xbox, bring it along with any controllers and cables.

See you all in two days!

i realize that there probabily isn't a competition schedual for the event yet but just wondering, about how many practice/qualifying matches are we going to play? Just want to know so I can set up a schedual so as many of our new guys can drive as possible.

should i figure around 2-3 practice matches Friday night and like 6-7 qualifying matches Saturday morning?

Friday night there will be time for at least 4 practice matches. In reality, with teams arriving at various times, I believe the field will be available to use however often you like. On Saturday, our target is to have 7 qualifying matches per team. We will play with the match list generator on Friday evening to see if we can squeze it to 8, but no promises.

Bags are packed, on my way. See Y'all there........

I'm wondering about traffic, since the USF / West Virginia game is tonight also and it's supposed to be sold out. Looks like Raymond James Stadium is far enough away that parking won't be an issue, but close enough that driving in from out of town may be affected.

On behalf of Team 1592, I would like to thank Teams 233, and 744 for picking us to apart of their alliance. To Teams 1251, 1902, 1369, you guys played a tough set of matches. One of the best finals matches I’ve been in/seen in a long time. always makes things a bit more interesting when there are 4 matches instead of the usual 3.

Also we’d like to thank 79 and USF for sponsoring this great event. And also thank you to all of the volunteers that helped make TNT possible. We had a great time and can’t wait to come back next year.

1 more thing… is there an archive of the matches from TNT or mainly the finals? I really want to see what was taking place during the matches. Being on the field I only got to really see what our bot was doing and didn’t see the entire match.
