It looks like 1618 will be sending a robot up I-95 for a pre-rookie team. We can't send the team proper this year, but the robot will be making the trip. (Fortunately, an FRC robot fits quite nicely in the back of a 1997 Honda CR-V.)

Brunswick Eruption 6 is now full

Today we registered our 36/37th teams and we close registration for new teams. We will create a waiting list for those who wish to attend in case we lose a team or two.

Of the 37 there are 5 prerookies playing with borrowed robots for the first time and "big brother" teams helping them along.

The tikis are ordered and half have arrived!!

And the evil sundaes are in the works- now I need a trip to the bait store.....

Ah, the upside of a high school diploma... ;)

1618's got the shoulder of our arm fixed already, and the gripper is next--come BE, we're gonna (finally!) be good for more than D. (Just remember to stay clear of the front--Uppercut's already lived up to its name once.)

For the past few years at BE we have had a raffle for game tix, dinners and valuable electronics. It has always been such fun that this year we just need to say one word....

Wii

Will you be there? will you be ready?

Update for everyone.

Brunswick eruption is full as Mr. Cokeley mentioned. The full list of teams can be seen here. We currently have 33 FIRST teams and 5 PRE-ROOKIES. Total of 38 teams - this is more than our quota :ahh:.

We have also decided on a few rule changes/clarifications. They can be viewed here.
Quote:

Rules and Regulations:
This tournament will follow the same rules as the Rack 'n' Roll game. Here are a few additions and clarifications:
1) Draft for the Elimination Rounds - the normal Serpentine Draft of FIRST competitions will be used. The top 8 alliances will pick two permanent partners for the elimination rounds. The remaining teams will be eligible for entry into the elimination tournament in the event of a robot disability as per FIRST rules. Teams can pick others in the top eight as in normal FIRST play but are encouraged to do otherwise.
2) Refereeing standards will be at the discretion of the Head Referee and his committee.
3) Elimination rounds will be "Best Two out of Three". Two wins and the alliance moves on.
4) The Autonomous Reward - We are borrowing a good idea from the Battle of Baltimore. At the end of the autonomous period each vertical column with a tube placed on it will be completed with 1-2 bonus tubes to fill the column. These tubes will act as “wild card tubes” and will be available for BOTH alliances (simultaneously if necessary) in their HORIZONTAL rows. A Spoiler can be placed to negate a “wild card tube”. ( similar to the “Crabby Tubes” from BoB.)
5) Ramps and Tubes - Ramps will not be allowed to be supported by tubes on the floor. However a non-supportive tube under a ramp will not be penalized.

There is also a Toy Drive and Evil Sundae eating contest and Nintendo Wii give away...

This event is turning out to be a lot of fun. I know a lot of people are busy doing a lot of work back stage so it will be good. See you all there.

Yay for Team 102 finally signing up haha. Took me a while to get them going on it but they finally did!!!

However, sadly, I don't think I will be able to make it to BE =( This will be like one of the first I've EVER missed... but something else has come up and it might just interfeer with Brunswick Eruption. I know BE will be off the hook though :]

Re: November 3, 2007 Brunswick Eruption 6

So I just received an update on BE--apparently, we're looking at four-team alliances for the event.

This could get interesting.

Yes, upon Wayne Penn's suggestion, we have decided to modify the rules. Updates will be posted on the website. This was done in best interest to get and keep all teams involved while still maintaining the competitive spirit of FIRST.

Re: November 3, 2007 Brunswick Eruption 6

Here's the announcement that went out to team leaders from the Head Raider, Mr. C. BE is going to be so much fun!!!

Quote:

Dear teams-

Just a few points of news regarding the event in 3 weeks..

1. We will be using 4 team alliances for the elimination rounds. The event team decided that we wanted to have more teams actually a part of the eliminations so 4 teams per alliance will allow 32 of the 38 teams to play. Picking will be a modified serpentine draft 1-8-8-1-1-8 . All teams in each alliance are guaranteed at least one round in the eliminations (meaning that they must play at least one QF round).

2. We are playing with the 2007 season robot controller radios. As the veterans know, IFI changed the radios last season and the older radios aren’t compatible with the system. We have 5 pre-rookie teams playing with borrowed older robots so I am asking all the veteran teams either A. please ask around and see if we can borrow robot controllers for the pre-rookies for the day or B. bring any extras if you have them. I plan on asking for loaners at DoD this weekend so it may be a moot point. If we are short I am sure we can switch off with radios for the Seeding rounds and there should be surplus for the Elims from the teams that are benched.

3. What to bring for the day: safety glasses (extras too), power strips, tether cables, your repair tools. Each team will get an 8 ft table and power source in your pit area. Teams with pre-rookies will be placed together. 38 teams will mean the pits will be a little tighter than other years (max 34 before) but we will have plenty of room. Power may be piped in from rooms down the hall….

4. Stuff for the kids- we have a raffle drawing with a variety of prizes including a Wii system, the Evil Sundae Contest will occur right after lunch. VEX – FTC will be doing an exhibition at the event.

5. Timeline and rounds- as the timeline is scripted we should have 6 rounds of seeding per team. I’ve adhered to the timeline on the event page fairly closely.

That’s the latest

We’re working hard to get ready for this grand event!! http://be.raiderrobotix.org/

As you probably heard, at BE6 a week from Saturday we will be having an-

EVIL SUNDAE EATING CONTEST

This e-mail is designed to answer you questions about just how evil these sundaes are and to encourage each team to choose 1 champion to represent them in the event

What the x%&&*) is an Evil Sundae?

Evil Sundaes are the concoction of my sinister assistant coach Bob Goldman who was fending off a practical joke by a student. The student was later served an ice cream sundae with a unique topping- crisp, greasy bacon. Wayne Penn was served a similar sundae after the NJ Regional this spring and HE suggested we offer a prize to anyone who can effectively eat one of these things.

Of course Evil sundaes have evolved since then…..

What is in and Evil Sundae?

That is a closely guarded secret but let me say
a. Everything in it is edible
b. It is not kosher
c. If you have allergies I would avoid eating one
d. Part of the sundae is green
e. Part of the sundae is red
f. Nothing will crawl out of it
g. You don’t need to eat the bones or shells
h. No small animals were harmed in the making of Evil Sundaes
i. It made Wayne Penn reconsider desserts for a long time….

What are the rules of the contest?

Rule 1- Only 1 champion can represent a team. Champions will register in the morning with our pit sign up person.

Rule 2- This is a timed contest. The first person to COMPLETELY consume an entire Evil Sundae will win.

Rule 3- Champions on each team may bring with them their favorite sundae eating spoon. This spoon can be of any size and decorated any way. And it must be tasteful and reflect gracious professionalism. For those not bringing a “champion’s spoon” we will provide plastic spoons- which might be a handicap.

Rule 4- The champion must “keep the sundae down” for at least two minutes after the contest. While we don’t expect regurgitation, barf bags will be provided for each contestant.

The contest will be held at the end of the lunch period in our Commons area. A special tiki will be awarded the winning team at the end of the day.

So start stretching those bellies, plugging those nostrils and training to gorge. This may be your only shot to be Master of Evil!!!
