We drill holes into gears and custom make a pin to fit into it. The servo simply puts the pin in, locking the entire drive system since all gears are connected.

to elaborate on your own design bharat...

they use a spring to push the pin into the gear...this way, there is minimal side load on the gear when it is not exactly lined up and they are trying to engage their brakes. simple design, but very effective.
