Re: Teleoperate my home project...

My socket code appears very stable now and I bought some more rechargables for them both.

The more people get on the better I know my software is stable.

Enjoy,
Chris

I love this thing :D played with it a little bit this morning, picked up some stuff, carried it, etc lol. Although the forklift doesn't seem to be going down, there are no problems with bots not working or switching or whatever.

Have you thought about posting this to Engadget or any other tech blogs like that to get more traffic?

Re: Teleoperate my home project...

When ever I try to get on, I can load the applet on the right, but the applet on the left just keeps the java logo on it.

EDIT: I got the applet to load, but now I keep getting "Error: Could not open socket"

Re: Teleoperate my home project...

Ok, the socket died again.
It only appears to fail when I get a lot of traffic, so I need to do some more testing before I post it anywhere else.

I will let you know when it is back and I can have some more help testing.
Thanks,
Chris

Just tried it, and it's awesome!

I almost flipped the forklift in my attempt to flip the truck... And I think the truck may have dead batteries.

This is awesome!

Re: Teleoperate my home project...

I added an additional fix on the socket code at lunch, so try and hammer on it some. PM me if you have any socket errors reported, this would help me a lot.

If too many people hit at once the website will say it is busy; this is not an error.

Thanks guys,
Chris

Is this in like your bedroom or something?

I just flipped the lift and craig helped me get up right with the truck. was fun to watch.

I think the dump truck is tired - it's lying on its side taking a nap.

It is at my home yes. In my office. So if you do flip it and can not right it with another vehicle, then you have to wait for me to get home and set them up again.

The forklift earlier did have a red ball stuck under the four bar linkage, so I pulled that out.

Enjoy,
Chris

Re: Teleoperate my home project...

Why are the vehicles sometimes unresponsive to commands? Like, on the dump truck I press Right, and nothing happens. Is my WiFi flaking out, or is it something on your end (or have you not seen behavior like that)?

Otherwise, sweet project. I was bummed though; I was hoping the arm interacts with the field. Oh well.

How do you interface from the server to the control pads for these? I've seen this system before, but I don't remember anything about computer control being integrated. Custom circuit? What language is the server-side program written in?

Keep it up; this is so cool!
JBot

EDIT: Sorry, I think I knocked some stuff off on the floor. Oops.

That happens to me too on occasion. I just switch over to the other vehicle, or refresh/come back later.

Does anybody still play TeleOperated? There was a spike when this was first posted when CD members would drain the batteries in a day or two as opposed to the weeks on end they used to last, but I wonder if people have had fun with this at school or anything since?
