Congratulations Dave! Everyone should read the article and see the history behind the guy you all know. I predict that we may one day be using a term named the Lavery for a robotics related standard. (i.e. 1 Lavery= 3 mi sq or the standard area explored by a robot in a solar day.)

Thank you all for the kind comments, they are most appreciated. To be grouped with folks like Red Whittaker, George Bekey, Brian Carlisle, and Vic Scheinman is a very humbling experience. I have known Joe Engelberger for many years, but to actually receive the award named for him is a very great honor, and a wonderful surprise.
