Are the rules regarding size, motors, etc... the same as this years FVC rules?

They have 1 week to build, 10 motor/servos max, 1 battery. no larger then 15 x 15 x 24 at start of match.

The field shown here goes along with the white paper i uploaded earlier.

How big are the goal holes?
Can a Vex robot really shoot a golf whiffle ball as far as 5 feet? From what I saw of team #40's mini-FRC last year, a vex-motor-only robot had a tough time shooting the little foam balls more than a foot.
How steep is the ramp? Is there anything preventing robots from falling off the sides?

the goals are 6" diameter.

i am building a robot myself, if it can't be done my self, i will shorten up the field and make it able to score.

platform height is 10", angle of incline is 20 deg. And there is nothign to prevent robots falling off.

I built one last year that was able to shoot wiffle balls a good 8 feet or so. It used 4 motors to power the shooter though.

...which means it's time to think outside of the box. :p

I found a way to shoot those exact same whiffle balls (or ping pong balls) last year a good five to ten feet with only a single motor and one gear reduction.

I was able to make a shooter last year with only one motor and it shot the larger baseball wiffle balls. So it is possible to shoot the balls with a wheel powered shooter as well. One of the pictures should have a link to a video(may not work). The shooter was effective from about a foot range on a 12.5" high goal, but could easily be made to shoot farther.

Another shooter I made (sorry no pics) shot raquetballs like the ones from half pipe hustle. Using only 2 motor and a 1:25 gear ratio, I was able to shoot them about 10 feet.

Just by judging from my own experience, it would be possible to make an effective shooter for the balls, and maybe even one that could shoot across the whole field.

Dang. That's rather ingenious. Props.

In this picture the shooter robot on the far right used 8 motors, 4 on each side, to get about a 1:22 gear ratio, I think I don't exactly remember what it was. Even then it was only able to shoot them 5-6ft before they hit the ground and maybe only a couple of feet up in the air. Shoot a whiffle ball with spinning wheels is not easily done with VEX motors.
