Thanks to everybody that came and participated at the First IRI Webhug and a BIG thank you to Mike and Arefin for making it happen. I apologize for the lack of organization but the turnout was far better than I had expected and any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pavan.

I couldn't find it... But that's okay. I met most everyone anyways.

Yeah, Eric was back with the Dean Simmons and the Kamens band, coordinating the lyrics and picture presentation files when we both realized that we missed the beginning of the webhug. Time flies when you're having IRI.

Sadly, I got confused to when it was going to take place, and missed the webhug as well. ;/ but i still got to meet a lot of new FIRSTers which was extremely nice.

As with all new traditions.... we will improve.

Ideas ??????

Re: IRI Webhug?

So IF the IRI will be in the same location next year we should have it in the same place as it was this year. We met in front of the consessions between the pits and the field.

Re: IRI Webhug?

There is about a 99% chance that it will stay at Lawrence North for a few years, so let's defiantly do it in the same spot again next year. Next year let's also have the mc announce it so that everyone will know it is going on and let's make it a more convenient time such as right before the matches start or during practice matches.

Convenient for those that don't leave the extreme western side of IL at 4:30AM the morning of, get lost in Indy, and then forget that Indiana is completely EST?

It's all cool, though. I'll do my best to be there. (I've missed 2 of 3 Webhugs I've ever had the chance to attend.)

BTW, I walked past the concessions probably 15 times before I decided I was just going to eat [good food].

I think we should do it right before the matches start. It seems most convinient to me.

You might lose a bit of your volunteer contingent if you do it too close to the beginning of actual matches - also, people fixing their robots in the morning might not be able to come.

Just a thought - I noticed that a lot of people showed up by 6:30 PM and after we announced it kinda (i.e. Mike Martus yelling across that lobby area). Maybe if it was more publicized, there would be more attendance?

Re: IRI Webhug?

No offense, but I was headed toward the line to eat. Timing was shorter than expected between the end of the last match (a makeup) and the beginning of the talent show.

Re: IRI Webhug?

The IRI Organizing Committee put together the neatest little booklet. It had everything in it. Perhaps the Webhug information could be included in the booklet next year.

Maybe a team that will be attending the '08 IRI could volunteer to develop an advertising campaign for the Webhug that would remind folks in a fun way to attend, obtaining final approval for their campaign idea from the IRI Organizing Committee.

Just a thought.

You know what, that gives me an idea!! I have connections to the organizers of IRI (cough Baker cough) so I could talk to them and maybe get it to be an actual IRI event!
