WOW, that would be so much fun!! A chance to work with NASA on the Pheonix! What a chance these people have. I have always wanted to watch a rocket launch off, besides on TV. Let alone to work and study with the gear that's in it. Wow.

I believe NASA had a similar program for high school students with the Mars Exploration Rovers. It was called the Athena Student Interns Program. You can read about it here: Athena Student Interns Program.

Interestingly enough, I know Carla Bitter, the woman quoted in the article. I am working with her right now to coordinate one of the space studies projects for The American Mural Project.
