Free SolidWorks!

I was asked to pass this along:

Available to ALL Teams:
Get SOLIDWORKS Design Software for FREE

SolidWorks has agreed to make its design software available to FIRST teams everywhere. To get your free educational licenses contact, go here: http://www.solidworks.com/pages/prod...t.html?pid=106 and click on the 'Click Here' button in the upper right corner.

Aside from many teams using this software to design their robots, SolidWorks was used to create BONECRUSHER in Transformers (The Movie).
See Jeremy's note below:

If like me your children are forcibly taking you to the cinema this weekend to see Transformers ( The Movie ), it's worth watching closely. The Buffalo MPCV toy from SolidWorks customer Force Protection features as BONECRUSHER in the movie.

Force Protection's Buffalo Mine Protected Clearance Vehicle was selected as an "actor" in the summer blockbuster movie, TRANSFORMERS, in theaters July 3, 2007. In the movie, which is a DreamWorks / Paramount picture in association with Hasbro, the Buffalo MPCV transforms into a Decepticon named Bonecrusher. Hasbro, Inc. has also released a toy series of movie characters, which includes the Buffalo/Bonecrusher. This package (contents shown to the right) has been available in toy stores nationally since mid-June.

QFT!

Anymore information? Does the team leader have to inquire? I don't want my team to miss out on this (which may happen with our leader).

They sent me a Student Edition of the 2006 version. I got mine a few months ago so maybe they'll be giving out the 2007 version now. It has a couple of small restrictions, but nothing that should matter much.

I sent their customer service dept an email, mentioning I used Inventor, and I was interested in trying SolidWorks since friends have used it. Took 'em a little while to get back to me, but once they sent me a reply, I got mine a week later in the mail. Really nice layout and is really easy to work with.
