Doing stats on team budgets...
 

Hi all,

I'm hoping to do some stats on FIRST team budgets, and need your help. My team is attempting to work with a VC to spread FIRST, and we were hoping to look at other teams budgets so that we could create and refine a sample budget for other teams.

I realize that budgets are highly personal to their respective teams, and I respect that. However, I'd still love your help. If you are willing to anonymously send your teams budget, it would be most appreciated. Feel free to PM me for my information.

Hi Dylan,

I am happy to ask my former team if they'd consider sending an anonymous budget. However, I just want to throw out a tip that may help a little bit with your study in terms of both organizing data and in the collection of it. If you make some categories of budget items that you would like to collect (e.g: Travel, Materials, Food, Community Service projects, Apparel / Spirit, Events, etc) and provide a form to fill out, it might make it more comfortable for people to submit without revealing the entire breadth of their budget if it is sensitive.

FIRST has collected several statistics concerning team finances over the years, and they probably already have just what you need. Contact me via IM so I can understand exactly what you are after, and I can probably point you to the right person at FIRST to talk with.

If you still need numbers after talking to Dave I can probably give out our numbers. I am trying to finish organizing and graphing where we spend all of our money this year and then planning the budget for this year.

Appendix A in the FRC Handbook has a very basic budget that might help you get started. In fact, the whole document is something that should be shared with prospective teams. Visit How to Start an FRC Team for links to this and other valuable resources.

hey, I'm trying to start a FTC (formerly FVC) team. I think i'm in the wrong place. It seems like it. I know where the registration page is. Will any of you participate in FTC?
