Loss of a SPAM mentor

It is very unfortunate that the FIRST community lost a mentor. Todd Almeter, a good friend and a great mentor passed away this past Thursday from brain cancer. He joined the team back in 2002 and he supervised all the electrical stuff on the team. He was an employee at Awareness Technologies. It was a shock to me when I heard about it and it is very hard to lose a good mentor who gave a whole lot to the community and the team. May his soul rest in peace.

He was truly great mentor. He really cared about his work and enjoyed teaching what he knew to us.

May he rest in peace and my prayers go to his family and the entire S.P.A.M. family.

Re: Loss of a SPAM mentor

For the last several seasons Todd had devoted his time to his 3 young girls - coaching in their soccer leagues - and to his engineering work at Awareness Technologies. He still stopped by during Build to see how we were getting along, and so it has shocked us all at how quickly he was stricken and taken. I remember, well, a trip he and I shared to and from the UCF regional in 2004. We both had to work that Thursday and came up to Orlando late in the afternoon. Those are the thoughts I'll keep of him: full of life and creativity.

Todd was 37. ...a life cut way too short.
