Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
My business brain has been turning.
Would you order ice cream from a place that delivers it to your door like a pizza place? Or is it better to have a pizza place that delivers ice cream as well? |
Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
Don't we already have ice cream delivered to your door?
Ever heard bells of the ice cream truck driving by? |

I've always wanted to stalk that annoying van on my bike, just for the heck of it. You know, completly freak out the driver.
The shwans man on the other hand, they're the best when they show up in the middle of the desert and let us buy some ice cream from them. Wonderful time. |
Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
The only thing about having Ice Cream delivered is you miss all of the fun stuff like shakes and quakes (type of blizzard at local ice cream shop). That is why I would only buy pizza, and then go to the ice cream shop. Now if you make an ice cream shop on wheels that sells like actual ice cream and not popsicles type of things, then you're talking!:D
EDIT: Shwans costs so much in my town! I would rather burn then pay 2.50 for a popsical. But that is me personally. |

Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
It depends on price and quality. There is a place called Little Caesars by my house, and it offers FRESH pizza [they make their dough AT their facility EVERY day unlike many huge pizza giants] at very low prices, $5 a pizza (they only have large) and $6 a deep dish (not chicago style but its still a bang for your buck). They also have the best tasting pizza that I have ever had, and my Canadian cousin came by last weekend and he said its better than anything hes had in Canada.
As for the ice cream, I might order it for convenience sake, but ONLY if I ordered a pizza. If I wanted it that bad I would end up getting it because I would need to leave the house for my [future] addiction to Vault. |
Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
uhh
cormier: being productive in offseason, are we now? i'd just get pizza..why tip a delivery guy for a 2$ item? (in case you're wondering, i'm fairly bored at work) |
Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
If Cold Stone delivered, I'd have a problem.
I've tried, they laughed when I called. P.S. Gourmet ice cream is not $2 |
Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
umm no. id just go get some from the freezer.
you can keep ice cream in the fridge and it stays good but pizza tastes different not fresh |

Don't remember the name it was after all about 15 years ago. BTW Both were great and they did a super business! |
Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
I dont know if I would want to tip for ice cream and profit loss from gas and a driver might be to much. But if I got them together then maybe it would work. Normally if I want ice cream I just go out.

Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
A note from earlier: It doesn't matter what the cost of ice cream is when you've been riding through the desert all day on a bike.
I guess if it was just like an ice cream shop on wheels (the kind that would sell real ice cream like shakes and none of the pre-packaged stuff that you find in gas stations), then I probably would buy from them. Ordering ice cream right to the door like pizza, it just doesn't feel right. It would ruin my family's traditional run out to the grocery, pick the ice cream, get some nuts, and then run back home and then eat it nights. |
Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
So if you ordered a cone, would the deliveryman scoop it at your doorstep, then add nuts, sprinkles, and a cherry?
I see this idea working well with prepackaged confections (rocket pops, dilly bars, fudgesicles (sp?), etc) but not soft-serve items. I agree with the tipping thing - single servings of ice cream wouldn't be a large enough amount of money to justify significant tipping by the customer (or even delivery if there's only one residence). If pizza and ice cream were delivered simultaneously, the customer would either eat hot pizza then melted ice cream, or cold ice cream and room-temperature pizza. Pizza only. |
Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
Personally I doubt that pizza places would have really good ice cream flavors and such (of course im just assuming) and would never order pizza & ice cream.
but if this actually became an offer, i'd say it would sell as much ice cream as they did/do brownies. (I never buy brownies from pizza hut though, i'm quite afraid they will taste like pizza :p ) |
Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
If I was the type of person who had pizza delivered to my door, and that pizza place also sold ice cream, then I might order some ice cream with my pizza.

Re: Ice Cream & Pizza? Delicious?
Ben and Jerry's actually does have an ice cream delivery service on the internet, but it's way to pricy! Like $9 a pint! I only get Stephen Colbert's AmeriCone Dream from Ben and jerry's, and i get sick of it after a while (plus it's out of stock at the store 80% of the time).
I usually buy Håågen Dazs Ice cream (Expensive but always good). I never get sick of it really, because almost all of their flavors are good and i like to try something new all the time. (way back when when they had only 3 flavors, it took 8 years to develop the 4th flavor. it's true.) 2 things i worry about delivery of ice cream are the price and the worry of it melting. I never get pizza delivered to my house and i've never tried it (don't know why). I guess in the field of technology, the JPL would benefit most if they had a really good Ice cream parlor on the premises. (If you've seen the mission to mars movie where they don't have time to eat since they stay up so late to work on the mars rovers so they eat ice cream instead of food.) |
