Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 3

Sunday
Miami
at New York Jets
the jets are struggling once again.
San Diego at Green Bay
this should be a good game, i think that san diego bounces back
San Francisco at Pittsburgh
this should be a good game to watch, ben has something to prove
Buffalo at New England
come on, is there really any compitition?
Minnesota at Kansas City
KC is weak this year, LJ cant run the ball and AD will run all over the lowly KC def
Detroit at Philadelphia
did you watch the monday night game?, washington destroyed them, the score may not have shown it, but if you seen the game, phili has a lot to work on.
St. Louis at Tampa Bay
the rams have some issues this year, if they cant run the ball, the same thing that happened to the saints last week will happen again.
Arizona at Baltimore
this shouldbe a good game, but defence will be the victor here
Indianapolis at Houston
this is my upset of the week. i think that this is going tobe a clasic. tho would have thunk it huh? Houston? were did they come from?
Jacksonville at Denver
horrible game this week, who cares?
Cleveland at Oakland
derek anderson is going to throw 5 more tds this week
Cincinatti at Seattle
cincinatti will score a crap load on seattle, they have a lot ot work on this year as well
Carolina at Atlanta
this should be intresting, as much as i am a fan of joey harrington, i think steve smith will score 4 tds on the crappy atlanta defence.
New York Giants at Washington
this should be good. washington comming off the big monday night win, they are excited for this week, but i think that eli has something to prove and i see another game like week one but with the g-men comming out on top
Dallas at Chicago
i dont think that chicago can handle tony romo this year. he is doing very well. and sexy rexy will blow it.

Monday
Tennessee at New Orleans
the saints will come back this week and beat the titans, i dont think by much but they will win. brees and bush wont let them goback to the days when they were called the 'aints.

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 3

Sunday
Miami at New York Jets
Unless Miami gets the Pats' tapes....
San Diego at Green Bay
Chargers get one on the road
San Francisco at Pittsburgh
Steelers have looked pretty good (although they really haven't played anyone yet)
Buffalo at New England
um ....
Minnesota at Kansas City
KC = 0fer?
Detroit at Philadelphia
Philly is mad and looking to beat up on someone at home. This won't be one of the Lions' 10 Ws
St. Louis at Tampa Bay
Galloway's old, but he can still run.
Arizona at Baltimore
Ravens' D confounds Leinart
Indianapolis at Houston
yup.
Jacksonville at Denver
Only because Denver is better at football.
Cleveland at Oakland
Last week was a definite anomaly
Cincinatti at Seattle
Natti can score at will, Seattle can't
Carolina at Atlanta
Falcons = 0fer
New York Giants at Washington
Red-hot Redskins get the home victory
Dallas at Chicago
Da Bears aren't very good at playing football when they have it.

Monday
Tennessee at New Orleans
Saints can't suck forever.

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 3

Sunday
Miami at New York Jets
Someone is always cheating at a Jets game. Question is, who's smart enough to not get caught? But seriously, Miami wins 16 - 13.
San Diego at Green Bay
Favre vs. Chargers Secondary or LT vs. the GB D? My money's on Favre for win #150 (not to mention home field advantage.)
San Francisco at Pittsburgh
No passing touchdowns yet for the 49ers. Not going to change this week.
Buffalo at New England
Moss + Welker + Brady = Burn
Minnesota at Kansas City
Not good when your RB is your leading receiver, KC.
Detroit at Philadelphia
Surprise vs. Disappointment. Dawkins hurting doesn't help the Eagles D.
St. Louis at Tampa Bay
No confidence in either team. Home field for the tie-break.
Arizona at Baltimore
A lot of injuries for the Ravens, but their D is still formidable.
Indianapolis at Houston
Freeney and Co. will expose the Houston O-line.
Jacksonville at Denver
Jags aren't listening... Run the $@#$ ball!
Cleveland at Oakland
After last week's shootout, they've wasted all their offense for the year and Shanahan screwed the Raiders out of a win.
Cincinnati at Seattle
Maybe facing the Bengal D will get the Seahawks O rolling... maybe.
Carolina at Atlanta
Smith for the win.
New York Giants at Washington
Giants won't do anything until Coughlin is gone.
Dallas at Chicago
Grossman...

Monday
Tennessee at New Orleans
First game at the Superdome sparked their season last year.

i see them scoring a good amount of points, but something that the titans have that the texans don't really have is that over powering offense like the colts do. it should be a good game until the second half comes around and the colts jump out front with a 24 point lead.

Touche.
Reason #2 to pick the Vikings: They actually play Defense.

P.S. I've dreamed up a tie-breaking system. Here's what I dreamed up:

1st tie break: Quality points, which is determined by how you picked compared to the majority of the competitors.
So if you choose against the majority / chose the underdog and they win = 2 points.
However, If they lose = -1 point.

2nd tie break: # of weeks that you participated in.

Tell me what you think.

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 3

For the people picking Houston, do you know Andre Johnson is out for the Colts game?

The texans have no shot whatsoever without Johnson.

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 3

Sunday

Miami at New York Jets
Questionable Pennington and Miami's D will make this rather lopsided

San Diego at Green Bay
The Pack might be 2-0, but San Diego has something to prove, look for the Chargers to plow through Green Bay to regain some credibility.

San Francisco at Pittsburgh
The Bay is 2-0, but Alex Smith has the second fewest passing yards in the NFL...that doesn't bode well against a Steelers team that's looked like the Steel curtain the past two games.

Buffalo at New England
Bill Bilicheck hopes that his "scandal" is behind him with the routing the Pats gave the Bolts last weekend...however that's not the case and the mud storm is bound to brew up sometime in the near future. For now, I'm going to say that New England will enjoy being a powerhouse while it still lasts

Minnesota at Kansas City
Minnesota has returned a turnover for a TD the first two games, look for them to do it again versus a team that doesn't have a QB.

Detroit at Philadelphia
I really want to say that the Eagles pick up their first win....but after their Monday Night outing, I just can't do it. It's either going to be a shootout or a one sided affair, either way Mo-Town drives away with another win.

St. Louis at Tampa Bay
There's no way that Marc Bulger and crew can start out 0-3 after most picked them to win the west. Expect them to regain confidence against a sub-par Tampa Bay team.

Arizona at Baltimore
Arizona's offense is a two-faced demon. On some weekends it looks like a Juggernaut that can't be stopped, other times It looks like... Arizona. Either way it's a good thing Denny Green still isn't a coach other wise we might have "THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE" part 2.

Indianapolis at Houston
Houston has looked solid the first two games (yes, I know they were against the Panthers and the Chiefs), but they finally got a QB who can stay vertical, a RB that can run, and a O line that isn't a sieve. However, Indy has a QB with a laser rocket arm, and you can't go against that. Indy in a nailbiter.

Jacksonville at Denver
Gerrard hasn't proven much of late, and Denver's defense is too good. Denver wins in a low scoring affair.

Cleveland at Oakland
First thought is to always pick who's playing Oakland, but after Cleveland's shootout with Cincy last week, they might actually be better than we gave them credit for.

Cincinatti at Seattle
My condolences to those in the Emerald City, but the window has shut. You had your chance at a Title, and you fell short. That and last week you played awfully. Look for Carson and crew to light up the field.

Carolina at Atlanta
Yes the Falcons have a shiny new quarterback in Byron Leftwich, but he hasn't been playing for 3 weeks and won't make much difference in this game if at all. Expect Carolina to come away with this one handily.

New York Giants at Washington
New York is a mess, and there's no end in sight. Washington usually plays New York hard, and don't expect anything less this wee.

Dallas at Chicago
Let me take a second to count how many touchdowns Chicago has scored this season...oh yeah, 2. One was a punt return and the other was scored by a offensive lineman...doesn't bode too well. I'm pretty sure that Dallas will shine again and take this one away.

Monday
Tennessee at New Orleans
When I looked at this game at the beginning of the season I was excited. A powerhouse offense of '06 and a up and coming star to the NFL....at least that's what it should have been. It's essentially a toss up, but look for the Saints to march over the Titans in the less than biblical matchup.

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 3

Sunday
Miami at New York Jets
The Jets showed signs of life. Green continues the Dolphins run of crappy quarterbacks hoping to make Dolphin fans forget Marino.
San Diego at Green Bay
I can't see Green Bay beating the Chargers.
San Francisco at Pittsburgh
The Niners have been just getting by. The Steelers are not going to mess around with them.
Buffalo at New England
Great. just what the Bills need. The Patriots feeling they have to prove themselves....
Minnesota at Kansas City
The Chief's strength is Larry Johnson's running. The Vikings strength is stopping the run.
Detroit at Philadelphia
The Eagles take it up a notch.
St. Louis at Tampa Bay
The Rams are having protection problems and they usually show up mostly on the road.
Arizona at Baltimore
The Ravens D will make life miserable for the Cardinals.
Indianapolis at Houston
The Texans are a nice story but the Colts are old pros at winning and will find a way to win.
Jacksonville at Denver
Denver has been getting by on thier second chances. The Jags specialize in giving opponents second chances.
Cleveland at Oakland
THe Raiders D is far far more formidable than the Bengals D.
Cincinatti at Seattle
If the Browns can put up 50+ on the Bengals how much can the Seahawks put up?
Carolina at Atlanta
The Panthers should win this one going away.
New York Giants at Washington
The Giants look hopeless
Dallas at Chicago
Chicago is at home so the defense should be pumped up to put on a show.

Monday
Tennessee at New Orleans
The Saints have seriously regressed.

Josh Goodman 18-09-2007 22:37

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 3

Sunday
Miami at New York Jets
After last weeks performance against a tough defense, I'm confident even the backup QB will have no problem.

San Diego at Green Bay
GB has been doing well....but chargers have them beat.

San Francisco at Pittsburgh
Pitt Defense is no match for SF running game, which is their only hope.

Buffalo at New England
New England has them beat in every aspect.....including cheating.

Minnesota at Kansas City
KC hasn't looked to hot. This will be a close one however. I expect down to the last seconds.

Detroit at Philadelphia
HOW IS DETROIT 2-0!?! I'm going out on a limb here and taking the favored team, Philly, their offense and their home field adv.

St. Louis at Tampa Bay
St. Louis again has been struggling and can give up some big plays. I take TB (not the disease).

Arizona at Baltimore
I know, why Arizona? Their offense isn't very fine tuned nor their defense. But if the Jets figured out Baltimore's D-holes, I think so will Arizona.

Indianapolis at Houston
I predict another close game here. But at the end, just like every other game, Indy out offenses everyone.

Jacksonville at Denver
How can you not pick the team with the two game winning FG's?

Cleveland at Oakland
Tie 0-0.

Cincinatti at Seattle
Battle of offense. Cinci opens up the throwing game and wastes the hawks.

Carolina at Atlanta
With Vick spending time with OJ, Carolina rolls over this struggling team.

New York Giants at Washington
Giants cannot get in rhythm and Portis will easily take them down.

Dallas at Chicago
Close game. I would say Chicago honestly from their Home field adv.

Monday
Tennessee at New Orleans
Easy victory over a surprisingly struggling team.

I dont know if i can get in on this but imma pick anyways

Miami at New York Jets
Ive always liked Herrington
San Diego at Green Bay
Looking good enough to go all the way, so i take the cheeseheads
San Francisco at Pittsburgh
Steelers are doing very good this year
Buffalo at New England
Patriots look how they did when they were the "dynasty"
Minnesota at Kansas City
Home team
Detroit at Philadelphia
Detroit is winning 10 games this year. this will be 3
St. Louis at Tampa Bay
Home team
Arizona at Baltimore
Def > Off
Indianapolis at Houston
Going with the upset here, Houston is sexy
Jacksonville at Denver
Broncos have a very easy schedule, and this is another one
Cleveland at Oakland
Who picks the raiders?
Cincinatti at Seattle
High scoring game
Carolina at Atlanta
Lets just hope Atlanta isnt good at cat fights too
New York Giants at Washington
Giants arnt just bad, they are BAD
Dallas at Chicago
Cowboys are going to be one of the best

Monday
Tennessee at New Orleans
Home team advantage

Since when do the Titans have an over powering offense? They've scored 13 and 20 in points in their two games. They have a couple mid-level running backs, a dynamic (but overrated) quarterback who still struggles passing and an utter lack of quality WRs or catching TEs. Young is only averaging 5.82 yards/attempts, and only has one passing TD in two games. 33 points in two games is not overpowering by anyone's standards.

I know, and beg to differ. The Colts are one of the best home teams in the league, but have struggled on the road. Last year they were only 4-4 on the road, including losing to all three division opponents (like the Texans). Their biggest road win was 12 points (the Superbowl), and their average road win the past two years is less than TD. Factor in that the Texans are better than the team that beat the Colts last year (even without Andre Johnson, the additions of Ahman Green and Matt Schaub, namely, more than make up for that) and that I don't believe the Colts are as good as last year. Not to mention Matt Schaub's QB rating almost 10 points higher than Manning's atm. Or that Indianapolis is allowing more than 100 more rushing yards/game.

JACOBY JONES PWNS. :ahh: I should get a bonus point if he has at least 100 yards receiving and a TD in Johnson's absence.

Sunday
Miami at New York Jets
San Diego at Green Bay (although Favre to Driver alllll day long, I hope)
San Francisco at Pittsburgh
Buffalo at New England (Lee Evans will have a big game, though, just because he can't be this bad......can he?)
Minnesota at Kansas City (Will LJ ever wake up?)
Detroit at Philadelphia (I officially reverse this pick if Westbrook starts)
St. Louis at Tampa Bay (I'm not feeling that 2500 yards from scrimmage, SJ.....)
Arizona at Baltimore
Indianapolis at Houston
Jacksonville at Denver
Cleveland at Oakland (Browns haven't won back to back games since 2003... Prove me wrong, guys.)

I'd take that bet. The secondary is not the weakness of the Colts D-unit. And the pass rush (aka Freeney) will have Schaub running around/on his back.

Might practice today according to some sources and still might play even if he doesn't. So looks like you're taking the Eagles, but you're situational pick is noted.

Minnesota at Kansas City
Toss up. Minnesota wants to win the NFC North, KC just wants to win
Detroit at Philadelphia
Philly is going to come out hard with the passing and win
St. Louis at Tampa Bay
Bulger is due
Arizona at Baltimore
Everyone greatly underestimates Arizona. They don't have a bad team. Put that with the Raven's injuries and Arizona picks up one on the road
Indianapolis at Houston
Houston's good but the Colts are better
Jacksonville at Denver
Denver's D will shut down the Jags
Cleveland at Oakland
After putting up 52 against a team like Cinncinatti, the only question is how bad Cleveland is going to beat Oakland
Cincinatti at Seattle
Seattle's O will be too much for the Bengal's D. Prediction: After the High scoring matchup last week expect Cinncinatti to score very little
Carolina at Atlanta

WOW! That's bold! Tennessee actually has a defense this year... and a running game. I don't know what's happened to NO, but it doesn't look good for them.

Well I know that Tennessee almost pulled it off against the Colts, but New Orleans has got to be angry after going 0-2 and losing to the Bucs. They want to dispel all ideas of a bad team this year, so they are going to come out strong.

That's just my reasoning, so if NO gets crushed you can laugh at it.

I may laugh at it, but I wouldn't be surprised if NO does win. However, emotions don't matter as much in the NFL as they do in NCAA.

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 3

Sunday
Miami at New York Jets-I like the jets at home, they played two really good teams last week.
San Diego at Green Bay-in terms of defense they are about equal but in terms of offense the chargers are much better.
San Francisco at Pittsburgh-The third best team in the league will destroy san fran
Buffalo at New England-Its days like this that make me happy to have Tom Brady on my fantasy team
Minnesota at Kansas City-Ugh, i cant beilieve i am taking minnesota but KC has looked worse than them
Detroit at Philadelphia-I have watched detroit, they are not a very good team.
St. Louis at Tampa Bay-This is a coin flip
Arizona at Baltimore-They are miles better than the Cards
Indianapolis at Houston-Without Johnson the Texans have no shot
Jacksonville at Denver-I think people are sleeping on denver.
Cleveland at Oakland-I like Oakland their defense is better than the bengals and they should be able to stop Cleveland
Cincinatti at Seattle-Yet another shoot out
Carolina at Atlanta-Steve Smith will have another big game
New York Giants at Washington-The NYG are struggling to do anything while Washington looks like one of the better NFC teams.
Dallas at Chicago-The only way to beat Dallas is to throw on them so with Grossman at QB they are safe

Monday
Tennessee at New Orleans-New Orleans doesn't have Bob Sanders to keep upo with VY, so i will pick his running against them

Yep the same ones who just gave up 56 to a Philadelphia team that hadn't scored more than twenty the previous two weeks. Also are you watching the Lions team that can't run the ball and can't keep their journeyman quarterback from getting hit. I love the Lions, but sorry Stevie I really disagree with you on this team. I think they are going to be a really fun 6-10 team, who scores and scores but can't stop anyone.

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 3

AHAHAHAHAHAHA to all those who picked Cleveland - thanks for being duped!!!

LOL that was classic stuff - to lose the same way Denver jobbed the Raiders the week before.

The streak lives!!!! Still no consecutive wins since 2003 for the hapless Browns.

But do I care about this pathetic team? NO!!!! GO INDIANS, your 2007 AL Central Champions.

And did anyone else pick the Giants? If they win (they'll probably screw it up), I deserve those new fangled bonus points for going against the grain.

Got 10 right so far.

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 3

I didn't watch the game up I did see how quickly the Eagle scored and it comes down to this, you need to be able to run the football. If you don't run the football you won't be able to keep the defense on its toes and you can't control the clock. Until the Lions actually try to run the ball they won't be a playoff team.

...if only the viking's running game could combine with the lion's passing game...

The lions are a good team, they just dont have any defense. :(
Most games scores dont go over 25-25 if the two teams are good.

Staying with the pack, even though I don't follow the NFL anymore. Got 9 so far... if I counted correctly.

12 for me! :) :) :)

W00t to picking the upsets. Minnesota, Cincy, and SD were winning late, too - narrowly got those wrong.

By the way, Maurice Jones-Drew is officially a stiff.
