Team 1249 would like to congratulate all teams on a great competition. We enjoyed the weekend and especially team 1251 our neighors in the close pit area. Special thanks for our alliance partners 1319, and 2187. You guys were great to play with and who can forget the 5 match first round. Already to pack up and go home then return to the field for another match. Two more lines and we would have been in the finals. Thanks again and see you next year.

Ya, I was there... well driving the robot there. and I would like to see some video. Not just of 1261, but others. I was in the pit most of the time so I never really got to see some of the other bots in action! If anyone can provide video for the Palmetto Regional, then you will be amazing.

Does anyone have a complete listing of the elimination match results? What I have been able to find does not list the ties. This was an awesome set of elimination matches. Congratulations to all that competed!

I have Finals video! Unfortunately it is in quicktime and filmed from the robocoach station. I do think I have a couple videos filmed from the front row. If anyone can show me a good MOV to AVI convector (or some usable formate for windows editor) I can post all but one or two matches.

1319 would like to thank 1249 for picking us to go into battle with. 2187 was also a great alliance partner. We gave it our all in taking it to 3 matches in the semi finals, although it was not as many as the five quarter finals matches. Our robots held up through all of these matches, and if things had fallen a little more in our favor I am sure the three of us would have lasted until the very end.

First of all, a big thank you to the volunteers that made the event a success.

I would like to give a special thank you to our alliance partners; 845 and 1270. It was fun to revive the 2005 Florida Alliance. Sorry we couldn't go all the way. 845 your robot was a great hurdler and your hybrid mode was impressive. 1270 you guys were able to accommodate to different strategies, the best second round pick in my opinion.

Unfortunately during Semi-final match two, one of the Banebot Planetary gearboxes that drive our elevator binded. A six minute time-out jusy wasn't enough time to fix it, forcing us to do just laps. This event has thought us many lessons and we are glad that it happened here and not at the Championship event.

Congratulations to the winning alliance. 2483, 386 and 1758. You guys deserve it. We were so happy that 386 was in the winning alliance, you guys were a great help during the whole event. Team Voltage saw that we had a small team at the event, so before our matches they gave us scouting sheets on our opponents. You guys are awesome and you deserve the win.

I would also like to thank team 1249 and 1319 for being the great neighbors. Both of this teams provided us with parts, materials and tools. Thank you so much.

Gene. The scoring computer replaces the ties with the score of the replayed match, so there is no archive of those scores. As I remember, the first Quarterfinal between Alliance 4 and Aliance 5 was a 72-72 tie (I am sure of the match, but not of the score), and the first Finals match was a 52-52 tie (this one I am sure of the score).

There was only 1 tie in the quals. Match 18
11:48 AM 18 RED (2430 1466 1225) BLUE (1876 2187 2483) tied with 28 pts

Thanks for the GREAT job managing the Alliance Selection.

I recall a 70-70 tie in the finals as well. Is my memory failing?

Yes, www.thebluealliance.net. Search team 386, 1251, 342, and or 1319 for all the different elimination matches.

Edit: but it doesn't show the ties either. Sorry

No you are correct. There were 2 ties in the Finals. Match 1 was a 52-52 tie, and Match 3 was a 70-70 tie.

Thanks to all of the Volunteers at the Palmetto Regional; we had a great time. Thanks especially to 2483 and 1758, our amazing alliance partners. Also, I would like to congratulate 342, 343, and 393/804 for an amazing set of Finals matches. From all of the matches I've seen on video over the past 3 years, I've never seen 2 ties in a set of Finals. I hope to see you at Nationals or next year.

Re: 2008 Palmetto Regional

I've been waiting to post to see if everyone was happy with the event, because I can tell you that everyone down by the field, the scorekeepers, refs, MC, and Announcer were THRILLED beyond description at the entire event.

This was my 4th year as announcer and I thought I had seen it all, until Saturday. Like an earlier poster said, we about had 5 heart attacks watching the speed, endurance, energy agility, maturity, and strength of the robots AND team members.

The circumstances that necessitated rematch in the semis was the toughest call I have ever seen made at a regional. In retrospect, running the rematch is supported by rule T16 which says a rematch is warranted whenever an event occurs that affects game play or score caused by the field, equipment… or field personnel. A scoring error clearly falls under this rule. But if the scoring computer program is well written, it should have disallowed any ball bonus score over 24 points, making the possibility of a 4 ball score impossible. We did not know at the time and still do not know if that type of data validation is present in the scoring system. With no paper score sheets, and a rule against video review of play, there was no choice but to rerun it.

The reason I bring up the situation is because I was so impressed by the patience and reaction of all the observers through delay and the ups and downs and uncertainty. Talk about Gracious Professionalism, WOW!

All of the goals of FIRST were met or exceeded by this bunch of folks who got together last weekend in Clemson. We might have arrived as strangers, but we all left as best friends. There was no foe or opponent. There was no win or lose. Sure there is the thrill of victory for the highest score, and some teams were more successful than others. But we all came together for a common goal.

There is nothing worse as a volunteer coming away from an event with a bad taste. On the other hand, there is nothing better than coming away with the elation we felt seeing the defeated teams cheering on the survivors, and seeing the students agonize with SMILING FACES when their robots deployed arms early, tipped over, or failed to deliver the extra 2 points at the buzzer.

These memories and lessons learned will last a lifetime.

Congrats to everyone!

Thanks for clearing that up. From 4 to 5:30 is a big blur in my memory. It was quite intense for everybody. Team 343 has the tapes. I can't wait to see them.

Re: 2008 Palmetto Regional

Our 5 match quarter-final w/ 1319 and 2187 was maybe the craziest set of matches I had ever seen until the finals. Except for the chain on our arm slipping in one of the quarter-final matches, I don't think there were any other mechanical problems with the alliance.

1319 and 2187 were awesome alliance partners. 2187 made 9 laps in the quarter-final match we tied, and 1319 kept the ball in the air all afternoon. They made us look good.

The competition was great with a lot of great 'bots. I think that shows in the close scores in the elimination rounds.

Hope to see everyone next year.
