Anything that will theoretically increase your efficiency is always a plus :D 1251 did some work as well, in one of our matches at Florida our claw took a good hit and broke (thank goodness for spares), but we beefed it up a bit in hopes to make it better.

I hope I didn't break it:eek: . We kept breaking our forks, so we didn't get to shoot as often as we'd like. We plan to strengthen the brackets and hopefully leave the defense to others, although it was fun beating pink and 1251 around.

my prediction is that 1251 is going to be the team to beat. every year that they come to palmetto, they come to play. i think that they will have a lot of momentum comming off of a great win at the tough florida regional.

Not to fret, it wasn't you haha, it was in our second to last qualifying match, (if you watch the video you see one claw kinda hanging around and we start to do laps)

You defense was pretty darn good, I don't believe you had any impeding penalties called on you, mostly because you played intelligent D, (not senseless bashing but keep away and such).

Hope you get everything worked out for your shooter for palmetto, from what I saw of it when it was working, it was quite effective

From what I see from their design they would most likely operate like either 1902 or 121, however as mentioned earlier in this thread, they said they were adding a little shooter piston a la 56

there are similarities, but we have less moving parts then they do.

by the way, what does everyone's autonomous/hybrid mode do? i already said this on this thread, but we can score (at the moment, hopefully more to come) 20-24 points consistantly in hybrid. so what can ya'll do?

I would like to see a match where 1261, 343, and 1251 compete together. That is domination. I'd definetly pay to see that match. :D And as for catching goes, we can shoot, who's willing to catch????

Congratulations to 1251 for their win in Florida. Team 1261 hopes to work with you in the future/palmetto. :D

Congratulations to team 343 for their win in Peachtree. Team 1261 looks forward to meeting you on the field.

I've also seen that 1319 will also be in attendance. I wonder if they'll be able to keep their winning streak alive...:D

Well its not illegal, it just doesn't count. In the rules it states that a ball is counted as hurdled after it has gone over the overpass and come into contact with the ground or another robot prior to it contacting the hurdler of said ball.

While it does count if a team were to throw it over the overpass into a fellow alliance members possession, I have not seen or heard of this being accomplished.

na, I see 343 teaming up with their proven partners 1319 and sister team 342. 1251 will make it to the Palmetto finals again, but will fall again against the shear awesome of this alliance:p JK
But I do seriously expect to see all 4 of these teams in the finals in some combination.

Thanks for the compliments and consideration. I'm having trouble sleeping at night just thinking about the regional.

As far as food, events are pretty adamant about the outside food coming in. We have been known to get some water into venues for our drivers/coaches. When you hit the finals it's non-stop action. They need to be hydrated or they pass out.

I would love to see a finals including 343, 342, 1319 and 1251, seeing as 342, 1319 and 1251 were all in the palmetto finals last year, adding 343 to the mix could only serve to make it that much more exciting!

This is off subject, but a good thread to put it in. In an attempt to get more community involvement and support, we have worked out a deal with the manager at the Arby's in Clemson (1066 Tiger Blvd, a.k.a. Hwy 123). If anybody from the robotic teams come in this weekend, Team 343 will get 10% of the sales. Just have the cashier write "Team 343" on your receipt. We would appreciate it:)

Re: 2008 Palmetto Regional... Experienced team

In putting together stats for my announcer trivia, I have the following stats:

36 teams
21 have been to a regional already (9 were at Peachtree and 7 at FL)
2 teams have over 12 wins
2 winners and 3 finalists
4 rookies
2 of the 3 winners for Palmetto 2007 are returning
8 states represented
20 of the 22 SC teams will be there (1287 went to Peachtree, and 1618 wnet to Chesapeake)

You are bound to see old friends and make new ones.

I know that there are at least 3 winners (1251 in Florida, 343 & 1319 at Peachtree) not 2. I don't know how many finalists we have, but we are one of them.

Hey everyone!
Just a heads up that I'll be coming around palmetto too to collect emails for a student-to-student email list. Email checked often is a must & so is good handwriting >_<;; It doesn't matter if you're a team captain or a misc. person (like me), so long as you fulfill aforementioned criteria :P

Is it for some nefarious purpose? What is it going to be used for?? I don't know yet :D I just thought it'd be a good idea b/c I have no clue how to contact other teams otherwise (I think there's some sorta mentor/adult email list but yea...)

If something like this exists would anyone care to point me to it? =)

Thanks!

Oh yea is anyone taking care of video at Palmetto? I think we're planning to record the streamed webcast but we're not recording locally, so it'd be good to have someone else record in case of internet traffic jams or w/e Murphy dreams up XD

Re: 2008 Palmetto Regional... tigers

The Tech Tigers should drive over to the coliseum tonight and get pictures of the bronze tiger (with exposed ribs) at the front entrance. Post it here please.

You should be able to get all kinds of Tiger souvenirs, hats, deeley bopper ears, tiger tails, etc at any of the stores "downtown" Clemson (it is a really small, but nice town). Mr Knickerbocker and another store about 6 doors down the street have EVERYTHING with tigers on it.

Not to be rude but CD discourages AIM style conversations in the room, let's try to keep the chat relevant and professional ;)

I recall they said the thread would only be on tomorrow and Saturday.

However, I second the call for reports. As the Capitals are taking a pass on Palmetto, now I've gotta root for the rest of Colatown in the form of 1293, 1398, and 1959*.

*Alright, 1959 is in Blythewood--same thing.

I've tried VLC and QuickTime, and still no luck thus far. (I'm trying to be a nice Gamecock and avoid the stereotypical Clemson pot shots. ;))

I'll be in the building tomorrow; logistics kept me in Colatown today.

oh ok

well if you find anything please let me know

We only have 4 student there and 4 mentors and I'm supposed to be doing scouting from down here and it's kind of hard to do if I can't see anything

I told Drew to go check at pit admin if they knew anything
