Team 1251 is "almost" ready to go. This should be another fun 11 hr drive followed by one of the funnest FIRST events. We can't wait.

Also, does anyone know if there is going to be a practice field?

Re: 2008 Palmetto Regional

Palmetto will have 1/2 of a practice field due to space limitations.

No different from florida.

Despite being one of the smaller regionals, there are a fair number of power house teams in attendence. Such as: 1251, 343, 1319 [congrates on all yalls week 3 regional wins], 1369, and 342:D
I think some of the closest and most exciting matches will be seen at Palmetto. Now lets just see is LookingForward agrees with me.

Did you add in the extra distance of the regional being at Clemson University? Once you go 11 hrs, what's 13?

By the way, where are the out of town teams staying? I'm glad were close by, so we can help those of you traveling.:)

Only 9 more days:yikes:

Don't say too much now :D The team's really excited.

This regional is really shaping up to be powerful. Just knowing what's happened the first three weeks of competition, there is a solid group of performers coming to Palmetto.

Just a few...keep in mind I haven't seen everybody so this isn't at all a definitive list...

281 Entech is a fast and solid machine
342 Another solid scoop and shoot design...with bling.
343 I'm biased but it's probably the best robot/team we've had in nine years
1102 They had a rash of bad luck at Peachtree...they WILL be dialed in at Palmetto.
1251 Won Florida, Won Palmetto last year..pretty much win Everywhere.
1261 The Robo-Lions have a solid machine and a great team...another 342.
1319 What can you say...won it last year, won Peachtree with us this year...always solid.
1369 I haven't seen them, but the Minotaurs are always impressive.
1746 Look out Palmetto....here comes OTTO!

...and that's just the teams I know about...there are always great sleepers out there....I can't wait to see some of the other teams.

Best of luck everybody....let's have a blast.

I am so excited!! I seriously think Palmetto is going to be crazy competitive!

I can't wait to meet up with some old friends (343, 342, 1102, etc!!) and to meet some new friends!!

If y'all need anything or any kind of help swing by the 1319 pit!

I am so excited! Good Luck guys and let's show 'em how we do it in the south!!!! :)

Close, we were finalists at Palmetto last year, the 1319, 832, 342 alliance beat us, however we did bring home the Palmetto gold in 2006 with 11 and 247.

All in all, Palmetto is shaping up to become another powerhouse regional, and based on 1251's past experience at Palmetto, it will once again be an awesome event.

Well, I guess after Florida we're even now. Shall we see who prevails best two out three or possibly team up for once.;)

Maybe we could even see the "Burning Golden Tigers":p

If any of those three teams lasted until the second round of the draft, I'd be shocked.

IDK, we never seem to make first round draft. There is no telling how the cards will fall on Saturday.

The refs, announcers, pit assist, logistics, and other volunteers are working overtime to get this event ready. You will be happy to learn that Terrell Burch will be the Head Ref again.

I will be the announcer for the 4th year in a row and Ted Creech, the MC from 2006, will be back.

The Clemson Coliseum is on campus and a few miles from the cluster of fast-food restaurants. There won’t be any walking to Wendy’s like in Columbia. There is (or was) a Hardee’s about 5 blocks down the hill. But I don’t recall it being there a few months ago when I was on campus. One of the school’s dining halls is about 2 blocks away (up a REALLY steep hill) and serves the public for about $6. In the same area are some other sub shops, Mexican, and a convenience store near the dining hall.

Classes will be in session, so all the places will be open. They should be able to handle 1000 FIRSTers, but not all at the same time.

Clemson has a great campus life and Engineering. Computer Science, Math, etc programs. (I am biased because I am a graduate and have 2 sons going there). Friday at 12:30 there is an Engineering School campus tour. You can sign up at the website if you can break away or come back sometime later and see what Clemson has to offer.

Campus tours also on Sunday

It appears that that day is full for computer science and computer engineering..I wonder why?
Oh well, just have to go the week after that.

Edit: I would recommend for the sake of GP, that the people who live in SC to take the tour some other time. Giving out of state people the opportunity that they might not have other wise.

After an exciting time in Pittsburgh, team 1249 is looking forward to the long drive south and see some old friends. We will be joined by team 2237 while our other WV team is on their way to Hawaii. Sorry about their luck. We will be staying at Hampton Inn if anyone else is there, look us up. RoboRats are excited about the competition at Clemson this year.
